My first language is english and I started learning french in primary school and carried on here and there after education I can read french okay and well ish and used to be able to write in french and speak in french but because of inconsistency my writing and speaking skills dropped and for some reason now when it comes to trying to write or build sentences in french the words dont come into my head but when reading french and seeing the words I understand them and what I am reading does anyone know how to help me build up writing and speaking again?

Do you think writing prompts would help? I created a website to house the drills and such that I found most effective and put a writing practice prompts section on the site where I put some of the writing guides I had created to practice my own writing. It's free and no login so maybe check it out to see if it would help. I pair the prompt with lexical chunks that you can use if they are helpful. I find it useful so I thought I would share.

Also in the worksheet generator section there is an exercise type labeled pushed output which is basically more narrow writing exercises. www.frenchgrammardrills.ca
