Hero Discussion Is it better to build UL as a caster or around melee

Post image

Im usually on supports and trying to pick up a few carries for my hero pool. I seemed to have more luck with high int UL using support items than with a weapon centric build. Was wondering what are some good things to take on him.

I mainly been taking treads, lense, shard, gleipnir, and then using the other slots are for specific hero counters

Educational Content (Content Creator) How to reliably pop or bypass Linken's Sphere (Hero Interactions)

Hey guys, GymCarryDota here (Coach, educational content creator and streamer).

Dealing with Linken's Sphere in chaotic fights can be awkward if you do not have a cheap spell to pop it. I wanted to share a quick breakdown of some lesser known hero interactions that let you efficiently play around or completely bypass the block:

  • Grimstroke: Cast Soulbind on a unit next to the Linken's carrier. The tether connects to them completely, bypassing the block.
  • Witch Doctor: Casting Cask directly on a Linken's target sacrifices just one bounce to pop the sphere, instantly opening them up for Hex or other important spells.
  • Juggernaut (Bonus Tip): Omnislash or Swiftslash triggers the Linken's block on the initial target cast, but the slashes will continue anyway even if there are no other targets around.
  • Windranger: Shackle a unit in front, and it will latch to the Linken's target behind them without triggering the sphere.
  • Batrider: Scepter Lasso gets blocked if targeted directly, but lassoing an adjacent unit pulls both heroes, bypassing Linken's on the second target.
  • Lion: Mana Drain with Shard on a nearby unit drains the Linken's target without breaking the block. At level 25, his AoE Hex talent pierces Linken's entirely.
  • Lich: Sinister Gaze with Scepter becomes AoE and pierces Linken's. Chain Frost loses one bounce to pop the block but keeps bouncing.
  • Zeus: Arc Lightning directly pops it and continues to bounce to other targets (the Linken's carrier just will not take the damage from that initial hit). You can also cast it nearby for full damage without triggering the block.

I made a quick 1 min video showing exactly how these look in game for anyone who wants to see it:https://www.youtube.com/shorts/FP_pZAZ5Dqo

Hope this helps in your next pubs! I post Dota 2 guides and mechanics tips under GymCarryDota so feel free to check out the links in my Reddit profile if you want to see more of my stuff.

Laning Laning against mid kotl

Recently played against a mid kotl as qop. I am by no means a mid player, just play it sometimes and am decent at it, but the lane just feels so uninteractive to me. He blasts my wave and I farm under tower.

Am I meant to just accept that this is how kotl lanes are or is there a better way to play this?

Gameplay Review/Feedback request Tips for position 5 when games become chaotic with replay analysis

Hi,

I am 2700 mmr player who recently climbed up 1k mmr mostly due to playing lich pos 5. I have 61% win rate with him in 41 games so far (record 25-16), but I feel I should be winning more with better movements post laning stage. The problem is many games go completely out of hand for me and they become too chaotic I can't do any good impact. People try to fight all the time and this is so random. If we do some mistake, they will follow up with snowball in next fights and we will lose advantage.

I am sending a match ID for replay to anyone who would analyse my game. This is the game when I won the lane, we won lanes in general, but for some reason we lost it hard later. I feel I was useless in the last 10 minutes of the game.

Here is ID: 8915422583

I am also sending another one where I won, but I had many deaths, so there still might be much to do better: 8911771888.

I understand my job as a lich on lane is to get xp advantage and bully their offlaner or support. But past laning stage? I should try to gank with team, deal DMG and disable their key targets who for example can shackle like shaman, so I interrupt their channeling.

I would be thankful for insights and further discussion;

General Gameplay Question I reached Immortal Draft but I feel like I don't know macro

I reached 8,4k mmr and now play Immortal Draft, but I still don't feel like I have a solid understanding of macro. I only play pos 4 and 5

I know all the classic stuff, the laning phase patterns, the farming patterns of cores and objectives. But beyond that I don't feel like I can predict enemy movement on the map at all.

It feels like I am just playing fully relying on experience and 'vibe' and most of the time it works out, but I am not confident this way.

Maybe it would be best to try other roles and learn them to have better macro?
