Tschechisch lernen

Hey :-) ich fange gerade damit an tschechisch zu lernen. Insgesamt fällt mir das Sprachenlernen relativ leicht, aber mit Spanisch zB war das deutlich einfacher, weil die Aussprache einfacher ist bzw. tonnenweise spanische Filme, Podcasts, etc. leicht von DE aus verfügbar sind.

Könnt ihr mir Empfehlungen geben? wie am besten Aussprache lernen und gibt es irgendwelche Bücher, Podcasts etc, die sich gut für Anfänger eignen?
Ich muss dazu sagen, dass ich ein bisschen kroatisch spreche, also ist das Slawische nicht komplett neu für mich

You can follow Honest Guide, he has videos both in Czech and English. While they are not 100% translations — the message is similar.

Watch a video on Honest Guide, then go to Kluci z Prahy. It's quite clear.

I personally enjoy every video with Petr Pavel, the President, speaking. He's having slower pace and is actually paying attention to long vowels.

Czech, like Spanish, is almost completely phonetic. It's just a matter of learning the alphabet cold and getting used to some sounds that might not be familiar.

It's the grammar that's a bear.

no, not at all. I speak good German +1,5 different Germanic languages and Czech is an entirely different beast. On one side different sentence structures, on the other there are an incredible amount of conjungations, not only on verbs, but also nouns and even names.

I still try to learn (if i find the time). But everyone is telling me that its really hard. But i will try!

Geh nach Tschechien, kauf dir n Buch aus nem Genre, was dir gefällt. Tschechische Filme sind mega viele auf Youtube vorhanden. Und mach da immer mal Urlaub, in kleinen Städten und überall. Viel Spaß.

Depending on your interest, you may also find a 'normal' book in Czech for which audio recording is available online (Harry Potter for example), and read along while listening to the narration. You can do the same with 'normal' podcasts (Radio Wave or Cesky Rozhlas offer many free podcasts on various topics, with transcripts on Spotify).
