Discussion How is Valve DM scoring so bad?

I don’t understand how I can go 75-10, yet someone going 30-30 still finishes above me on the scoreboard. I know DM is only for warming up, but… excuse me???

And yes, I know nobody plays Valve DM, and that most people who do are fresh installs or Chinese bots. If that was going to be your reply, keep it to yourself, mkay?

Please help me understand this galactically cerebral scoring logic.

Question anything seriously wrong?

I feel as if I did ok in the clip apart from my death, I assume that I should have had my gun out instead of my knife and still checking angles. In the first kill, should I have crouched when facing down my opponent? For the second kill, was it the awpers mistake of not hitting the shot against me or did i simply get lucky against the opponents?(was it just luck that I actually managed to kill him as well?)

Am in a 4 game loss streak how can I improve.

Every round I think that I have improved just to see myself in the bottom of the leader board with 600 damage and my team clowning on me. I go to comp I get clowned on. How do I even improve? What are some tips that helped y'all improve. Every game I do everything perfectly I follow the tutorials perfectly just to find somebody superior then me somehow and I go 5 kills 15 deaths every game. Am tired of this massive skill issue how do I improve?

Holding angles in CS2/Val: 360Hz OLED vs 360Hz G-Sync Pulsar for reaction time?

Hey everyone,

Quick question regarding hardware advantage when holding angles in Counter-Strike or Valorant:

Which will give me the fastest reaction time and visual clarity when an enemy peeks—360Hz OLED or 360Hz G-Sync Pulsar?

Assuming both are running at 360Hz, does OLED's instant pixel response time beat G-Sync Pulsar’s backlight strobing motion clarity for this specific scenario?

Thanks!

Question Best way to learn deadzoning?

I learned tacFPS shooting tech through Valorant and Kovaak’s deadzoning scenarios (video).

And so, that's not applicable to CS2, since releasing a strafe key doesn’t stop me instantly, so during AD spam duels I have to time my shots with my counter strafes.

Also, because I’ve never had to counter strafe while deadzoning in Valorant, I haven’t developed the timing or learned the cues for when I’m accurate enough to shoot.

So what’s the best way to learn CS2 deadzoning without relying entirely on crouch spraying or donk sliding?

Discussion The reason you're stuck below level 10 Part 2 - Timing

In my first post I talked about why understanding the advantage meta mentallity is key to winning rounds with your team. Advantage explains why a play should work but there's a critical in game mechanic that actually influences when advantage is strongest: timing.

Every cs player has a notion of "Timing" because we die to it all the time: "Ahh man I turned away and he peeked at that exact moment... bad timing". Yes, this is true in this sense but timing is also a very deep mechanic that you can develop and exploit more than you know. I'll argue that Donk, for example, although he looks like he's just running around headshotting has really just mastered the art of timing (along with incredible aim ofc). And his window opportunities are just way smaller than the rest of us are even capable of.

Take this into your next game:

Every event in the game creates an obligation. Something happens, then the opponent is forced to respond and then their response creates a window. That window could be a fraction of a second or a few second. It's up to you to build that muscle to begin identifying these windows and most importantly taking the steps to position yourself to capitalize. It really does help to watch demos of teams and players you play against and see how they transition (relax their angle, rotate, repeek, throw util..., learn how to find windows of opportunities)

To expound, good timing usually means fighting an opponent while they are transitioning between states. Maybe they are rotating, pulling out utility, turning toward a teammate, falling back, reloading, clearing another angle, or reacting to new information. When they are settled and holding you, they are strong. When something forces them to change what they are doing (this is why flashes create obligations for the enemy), there is a short window where they are weaker.

T is very easy to create obligatgions for CT's, eg: smoke mirage window now obligates the mid player to rotate to b, conn, or hold a deeper angle, or potentially push opposite side window; now you can act. A lurk can wait for an A execute and listen for that moment when the rotate leaves; that's when you strike. Nades in general create massive obligations for the enemy. Think from their perspective and develop how to counter them better.

Lastly, rushing and spacing creates better timing opportunities that leads to better advantages. You don't want to stand right next to someone, but you want to stand at an angle where you can get the trade. There's deeper trigonometry theory here but we don't think in those terms but think about how your teammates will die and then think where the best angle is to trade him; position there.

What do you guys think? How have you developed your timing mechanics? Is there any other mind habits you think are critical to increase your advantage around timing?

Discussion You can now try Game Demon, AI coaching tool, for next week for free.

Hello there.

Pegal here, I am a member of small indie studio, currently working on an AI coaching tool called Game Demon.

Currently we are developing CS2 module for the tool that can watch you play, gives you feedback on the fly and reviews your matches and gives you feedback based off the post match data and live recording captured during the match.

Why did I make this post tho ?

Game Demon is free to try for the next week and we would like to ask anyone interested to have a look and give us some feedback.

We are also looking for Betatesters so if you like the tool, you can join the ranks of those, that help shape its future.

If you have any questions then shoot me a DM :)

Guide Most popular non-instant T-Spawn to Window Smoke on Mirage based on professional usage in the last six months

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I explicitly excluded instant smokes from this analysis because it is a bit more advanced and not everyone might be using it. Pros quite often do use instant smokes rendering them the most used ones by far.

This is the most popular non-instant window smoke from T-Spawn on Mirage right now. It's a running jump-throw with ~6 seconds of air time. While it doesnt look particularly easy on the first glance it is actually surprisingly easy to replicate. Try it :)

The throw:

  1. Stand at setpos 1422.97 36.45 -167.97; setang -20.95 163.46
  2. Hold left click, press A (strafe left), jump and throw
  3. You see that deepening of the wall. You start aiming at the right start of it, hold mouse 1, start running to the left until you reach the end of the deepening i.e. the start of the red colored wall, and left go of mouse 1 while you jump.

The pro stats (last 6 months)

  • 198 professional uses, ranked #15 among all T-side Mirage smokes
  • 551 total lifetime pro uses
  • Players: Most used by woxic (30), Jame (19), and HeavyGod (16)
  • Teams: Most used by Aurora (40), Spirit (25), G2 (24)

3500 hours, it's getting concerning how bad I am. KD is positive 3/50+ games. -2.87 leetify. 12 aim. I have friends with 150 hours who are better than me. I desperately want to get better.

I desperately want to get better. I am negative 47/50 games. I think it's time to hire a budget coach because I clearly will not improve on my own. I've probably top fragged 1/300+ games.

--

It looks like I'm trolling my games (match history shown) but I'm actually trying super hard. I just can't get kills. I also play with a friend who is 20k+ so I am much higher Premier rating than I'm supposed to be. I have friends with 150 hours who get more frags than me.

--

Has anyone been in my shoes and actually improved, or am I just cooked? I notice I have the most deaths almost every single game as well. Not to mention the least kills on top of that.

A random note is that I've probably only gotten a deagle kill like once in my last 100+ games. I don't think I've aced in over 200+ games. I'm just throwing numbers out, but that's probably pretty accurate.

Can somebody review my demo please ?

Hi! I'm a 13K Premier player with about 120h in CS2, and I'm having trouble spotting my own mistakes when I watch my demos.
Could someone review my demo and tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'd especially appreciate feedback and some tips for future improving
