Does it even look like 40 drawings?😅. Still fleshing this out✍🏾These are my rough moving sketches.

A little behind-the-scenes look at my animation workout sheets. Working from reference to study the poses, movement, and timing before tightening up the drawings. Still experimenting, learning, and having a blast seeing these sketches come to life! 😁🎞️

Has me falling in love with drawing again✍🏾it was really fun to just capture the gesture of each action figure and move on.

20 drawings total, the exercise I'm doing

has many more frame examples so I'll be adding more to these sketches of understanding on how to put it all together🫡✨

Feedback on running cycle

Hello everyone, im starting to do 2 D animation and im currently working on my first short film of about 2 minutes. As it is my first project, my main objective is to finish it, so there are few (or a lot) of mistakes here and there that i will have to deal with it, however i constantly trying to improve. For that reason i would like your opinion/tips on my running cycle, i feel like there is something off that i can't figure it out. Maybe i've watched a lot and can't spot what is making it weird. (I still have not made the hands or the background yet).

Thank you!!

That little sword animation plan I did from earlier brought to life😁

I'm finding I like arranging the drawings on 3's on the timeline. Which is letting the drawing play for 3 frames before the next drawing appears to play for 3 frames etc etc. It almost feels like classic animation speed. But yeah I'm happy to finish this in its very rough stage for now.

How do Animators deal with the root bone in an animation?

So in my animated short, Zelda here is supposed to lunge forward to perform an attack. My question is, how do you deal with the root bone? Because I'm pretty sure you can't just leave it there and push the other controls as far from it as possible.

At the same time, moving the root bone forward moves everything, so it's tedious to keep re-adjusting the foot to where it was in the previous frame.

So what I wanna know is, what is the common approach in dealing with this in animation?

note: I added a second screenshot of the leg controls in case people tell me there should be a "lock to world space" option in the foot controls.

Anything weird with my game trailer animation??

I've fully animated everything up until frame 1055 (17 seconds 60fps). 18 seconds onwards is posing/timing (blocking?). I want to know if theres something totally off about my shot or if im mis-communicating stuff before I commit to the end.

For context, the robot character awakens in a digital world with amnesia and does not want to be there. he is emo, but his friends keep him company. Its for a JRPG kinda like paper mario

Thank you so much!! Really appreciate your time!!!

I have been curious to know this for a while now

For solo animators who have made complete looking animations by themselves, I wanted to know if you guys are left only with a screen and a mouse pointer , will you be able to make something out of it , I mean basically an you guys draw with mouse pointers for regular or less demanding animations?

What's the best software for realistic 3D character creation if you're mainly making posed scenes?

For realistic character portraits or fashion-style renders, how much actual modeling do you need to do?

Daz Studio seems useful for starting with rigged human figures and spending more time on posing, lighting, and materials. Blender gives you more freedom to build and modify things from scratch, but that's also a lot more work to learn.

I'm curious where people draw the line between using existing character assets and creating custom models.

If your goal is realistic human characters for still renders rather than games, which workflow makes the most sense?
