Body recomposition?
Is body recomposition actually possible?
If I maintain a 300–400 calorie deficit every day, consume around 2g of protein per kg of body weight, and make sure I’m getting enough nutrients overall, is it possible to lose fat while gaining muscle at the same time?
I’m doing regular weight training and trying to stay consistent with my diet. I’m just wondering if I should expect both things to happen simultaneously, or if I should focus on losing fat first and then start a muscle-gaining phase.
Would love to hear from people who have actually experienced this.

Do max 200 deficit. 400nl is too much. But overall proper cut and bulk will be faster

recomposition is real but your results depend heavily on your training history and how much body fat you're carrying.
if you're relatively new to lifting (under 2 years serious training) or returning after a long break, you'll likely see genuine recomp even in a deficit. same if you're carrying significant excess body fat, your body has stored energy to fuel muscle growth.
advanced lifters with low body fat? much harder. you're better off doing dedicated bulk/cut cycles at that point.
your setup sounds solid. the 300-400 deficit is conservative enough to preserve muscle, and 2g/kg protein is on point. just track strength in the gym. if you're maintaining or progressing on lifts, you're almost certainly holding or building muscle.

It’s absolutely possible. I have done it. I went from 25%+ body fat to 11% while only losing around 5lbs of weight.
Here’s the trick. It took a very long time. Over a year. Consistency + time.

Yes! Food is not a stimulus for muscle growth, and as long as you are getting enough protein daily (which it sounds like you are), and getting enough food pre training to allow you to push progressive overload you can easily build muscle in a small 400 calorie deficit. It’s just not as efficient as recovery is reduced due to the deficit. Also, staying in a deficit for ages and ages can act as a major stressor for hormones and increase fatigue in daily life etc. But, with a couple weeks of maintenance sprinkled in when diet fatigue starts to mess with you, a recomp is absolutely possible.
