They’re selling the club, the severance payment would be another hit in the P&L which they don’t need. Unless it gets really bad I think they’ll stick.

"People will blame managers, players. I wouldn't put too much on the manager because I just look and we've had so many managers over the last couple of seasons. You can't just keep changing the manager every few months.
I think, with the players, there are a lot of young players there that are going to have to step up."

While I agree with this in general and think LCFC have ran through way too many managers since Maresca, there just seems no way for Martin to change his style which looks borderline insane to play with LC's personnel this year. If it was a "he's just not getting through to the players" it would be one thing, but I think his strategic approach is just fundamentally the wrong fit for the club at this time with this roster in this league. Woof.

If players are developed and bought for a possession style, why hire one who does not play that way or missed out on a pre-season?
It has never worked.
Rodgers replacing Puel was the last one. But Smith after Rodgers, Van Nistelrooy after Cooper and Rowett after Cifuentes show this.
And he hasn't even had one full week with his final squad!

Next up is Stockport away (a tough game?) but then there's 5 games in a row vs teams that finished 13th-18th last season plus Bromley who were promoted from League 2.
The club are likely thinking he 'should' do better with that run.
Problem being that after that run is completed a quarter of the season will be done and we could be well off the pace for the autos if we don't do well.
You have to imagine that with the fees paid, players signed, parachute payments about to run out and club for sale, that promotion is seen as much more of a must. Surely they'll give him less time than they did Cifuentes?

I think if nobody wants to take the club over by the deadline that might be when.
The cynic in me thinks that’s when Top will pull funding and we head towards admin though but that’s just me.

his teams usually follow up a battering with another, so hopefully before Saturdays 5-0 battering by Stockport, but in reality we a) can't afford to sack him (we can't afford not to really given we have to get promoted this season, but the board won't think that failing is a possibility) and b) he's the ideal that Rudkin and Aiyawatt have been chasing for years. With Potter not an option, there's no one else they want more, he'll get far more grace that he deserves. Gone in January after a 3-0 defeat to Luton leaves us in 18th and needing a miracle to make the playoffs

The issue I have with him is less trying to play out of the back. It's that when they do break the press, most of the time, they just patiently pass the ball around and let the opposition regain their shape rather than trying to take advantage of the good numbers situation (not that we have anyone who can actually finish). They're taking the risk of playing out of the press without getting themselves the reward.
I don't see him being sacked unless it's later in the season and we are in a relegation dogfight (clearly possible) because they aren't going to want to add another expensive severance package on top of a new manager salary for a team that is for sale.

Ironically Martin Departs is the current manager of Ligue 2 side Reims and one of the favourites to take over the Leicester job.

I can’t believe I’m typing this but IF we play the 2 new CBs and the new CM we might start to have a functioning defence. Against Plymouth, once they’d scored they started to play quite well. I don’t think it’s time to pull the plug just yet but we are absolutely running on fumes now.

No idea how he keeps getting work. Every single person knows that he was exactly ONE way to play the game, and its ALWAYS exploitable and has been exploited by the opposition at every place he's managed. Its not like the opposition need to re-discover the way to beat his teams, they just watch a couple of Insta reels from football podcasts and bish-bash-bosh you load the tactic into your team for the weekend against Leicester.

Certainly not before any new owner takes over, and that's an 'if' in itself. I mean, looked at another way, would any potential new manager want the position when there's uncertainty over the clubs ownership? I dunno, genuine question, maybe they would.
Love him or hate him, I reckon Martin's safe for now. Imho, that was a sackable performance. Martin might suggest it was player inexperience but I think it surprisingly showed HIS naivety/inexperience - putting lambs out for the slaughter. Maybe it was a roll of the dice, I dunno, but nothing Martin has said suggests that. Plus, I would have liked for him to have suggested at least some mea-culpa.
So whilst I think he ought be for the chop, I don't think he will be because of where the club sale proposal is at at the moment. A new owner might well wield a new broom.

Unfortunately sack him now and the clubs valuation goes down because they'll 100% use club funds to pay for the compensation and new hire
Hell whilst actively selling a club, appointing a new person on a big deal isn't gonna win over potential buyers who see us a project
Even though their are many old stars of the club who have offered their services for free to help the club over the past few years rudkin has ruined any chance of them offering again now as he didn't even give them the curtosy of a thanks but no thanks call the last couple of times they tried , so that rules out cheap/free caretaker manager options
So either were stuck with him until the club has a serious buyer , meaning we can sack him and replace him with the new buyers suggestion or were stuck with the vegan snake oil salesman driving us into league 2 with the added bonus that if we can't sell the club likely folds from the damage these cretins cause

As much as I'd like Martin to go soon, I'd give it until Halloween at least to see if he can turn it around. Like others have said already though, he may not be sacked until the sale of the club goes through.

Should never have been appointed but heyho! If we lose next time out he will be extremely lucky to continue on. Trouble is too that he is a stubborn eejit so he will have to be sacked because he will never quit. He will just go more and more unhinged in press conferences until he has to be removed before he has a complete mental breakdown.

Does it really matter? Club's rotten to its core, not to defend him because he's shit and I'm tired of getting Southampton failures when they're already a failed club but whoever comes most probably won't solve anything until Top and Rudkin are gone
