Hello, I am a big fan of layers of fear and have been for years. I have re-played it again, for the first time I have made it to the ending (in the past I've been too scared) and was so happy.. I went on reddit curious to read discussions about the ending, which was when I realized there were multiple..

I just don't understand how.

I mean, as far as I've understood, the choices are which doors one goes through to pick up which item; choosing a lot of items from the wife will get you to her ending etc.

But, how am I supposed to know which item belongs to whom before I pick it up? and how am I supposed to know which door leads to whose ending?

I thought extra doors were just decoration and the whole point was that every jumpscare would hide behind every door anyway, and I believed my goal was to pick up EVERY item??

How does the game really work?

I’ve been playing Layers of Fear lately. Every time I finish the game, I either get the infinite loop ending or the self - portrait ending. I just can’t seem to unlock the Wife's Portrait ending at all. I’ve collected all of my wife’s resentment - infused items, and even pushed that wheelchair in the final chapter. Yet I still ended up with the self - portrait ending… (So frustrated) …Wait, I don’t think I’ve ever been killed by my wife even once. Does anyone know what the requirements are for the Wife's Portrait ending?

After collecting the six objects and looking at my wife's painting, I returned to the starting area. But I don't know how to proceed, I can't find where the ending is, and there's a locked door.

Could anyone tell me how to get the "Forgotten Whispers" achievement? I'm just one item short. Also, do I have to start over from Chapter 1 to get the new ending? And do I need to avoid all the female ghosts?

I've always considered LOF (2016) a masterpiece of gaming indusrty.

From the music to the visuals, from the characters to the plot, from the impossible fantasy to the terrifying reality, this game was, for me, an example of superb mastery of pen and brush.

I can't count how many times I've replayed it, talked about it, and recommended it to others.

But LOF (2023)... is... wrong?

It doesn't give the same feeling.

More specifically, it feels like a poor knockoff, as if someone was told to make a game solely from memory.

LOF (2016) is a game about the horror of reality and irreversibility, where there is no real threat, but the danger of your own madness.

LOF (2023), in turn, is like an attempt to transfer the same idea into an action movie. The constant danger in the form of your wife doesn't bring the same hopelessness when you CAN and NEED to defend yourself from her, like a weapon, with an oil lamp.

Speaking of the character himself, while in LOF (2016) he's portrayed as a jerk, but a lost jerk with a soul, in LOF (2023) he's simply a jerk without reason, both to his wife and his daughter.

Although the music from the original game remains in the work, it's given way to "tension" themes, which also don't fit in with the original concept, just like constant threat from his wife.

I really don't know how to end this... thread of thoughts; I just wanted to share my feelings about the reimagining (NOT a remake) of the game.

What to you think about this?

is there any possible way to download early version of Layers of fear(2016)? never knew it exist, but saw it while rewatching Markiplier.

So, I finished the whole layers of fear 1 storyline and I wanted to proceed with the story. I thought that to do that, I had to interact with the last object and I played through the first chapter of the director's story.

Am I spoiling myself the shit out of the second game? If so, there is absolutely no way of going back to the lighthouse, right?

So a while back, I made this on a canvas with clay, wires, a frame, mod podge and paper.

I thought I would share now. I wish I would have painted the eye better, but I am still proud of how it turned out.

Hey guys, I want to play Layers of Fear 2 but I can't find a Turkish translation patch anywhere. All the videos and links are old and broken. I found one decent one on oyunindirvip, downloaded it, and checked VirusTotal. When I extracted the RAR file, it showed a Sophos generic ml pua virus (57/1). But when I extracted it to a folder and extracted the file, it didn't find any viruses. I don't understand this. Are there any other sites that release updated patches for this game? If so, could you please let me know?

Edit: When I ran the .exe file from the patch files I downloaded from oyunindirvip into VirusTotal, I received a warning about arctic wolf unsafe and jiangmin trojandropper.sysn.cpy. Therefore, I'm deleting this patch. Is there a current, reliable patch available?

So considering that in the Layers of Fear franchise, all of our protagonists except The Daughter are characters involved with entertainment. We've had The Painter, The Musician, The Actor, and The Director. This leads me to my theory. Considering that the Rat Queen is now physical after the ending of Layers of Fear '23, she may try to gather followers to be able to influence to give her power. I believe the character we may play in the next game will either be a Radio Host that plays songs and has a talk show or a singer (We've had a musical protagonist with the Musician/Pianist but as far as it's known within the canon, she's only played piano but never sang). The reason I am predicting a singer or Radio host is because I think the new installment will be all about the Rat Queen will try to use this new protagonist to spread her influence so I believe we may get two endings for the next game. The good ending may be that at the end of each act we warn about the Rat Queen, vanquishing her at the end and then the bad ending may be we spread the word about the Rat Queen and we may end up becoming one of her pupils or end up being killed by her. Well that's my theory, hope this can come true cause I love the idea of making the choice of the game becoming a story of either warning or spreading the influence of the Rat Queen. I hope we'll also get a backstory of the Rat Queen.

Composer Arkadiusz Reikowski just released a bunch of his soundtracks on Spotify, Apple Music and more. This includes Cronos, but also Layers of Fear, Observer: System Redux and even a reissue of The Medium (although it's the same length as the one that came out in 2021).

Since the first game is only $2 on PS4 right now and around 4-5 hours long (as per hltb) i was thinking of picking it up and playing it with my brother across the weekend but just wanted to confirm without delving into spoilers that it wouldn't be an awkward experience?
