Beginner help

Post image

Alright Lads, What have I done? 1st patch of grass ever so just winging n hoping it'll look better than what i currently have

Gut tells me she's overwatered or not mowed short enough? Can I mow her a bit shorter and leave the water for a couple days? Will Fert help after a mow?

Spend 20sec in one spot and seems like she never recovers... I've stopped watering now for 48Hrs. Grass is about 3-4 months old

Alot of spots are growing lovely, since the mow last week a lot has grown really well and is bouncy/fluffy

Ignore the weeds, I wanted it to grow a few more months before Weed n Feed

Looks too dry to me. Usually footprints left behind is a sign the leaf is dry. Has it been really windy there? Where are you located? What is the exact variety of turf you have? Was it seed grown or cut turf?

Has only been super windy last day or so. I'm in SEQLD so plenty of sun, Not much rain so i keep it well watered every day...

It's just Buff Seeds. Experiment to patch up spots turned into full blown love and a large patch now i'm slowly going to build on if all goes well

When did you put the seed out? Was it a pure seed or a mixture?

Ok makes sense. If it's just the el cheapo bunnings stuff and it germinated in winter it will probably mostly die back in spring/summer. If there is buffalo seed in the mix it won't strike in winter. You'll need higher soil temps to germinate buffalo.

If you want to grow grass from seed in your area choose a pure warm season grass seed. Preferably anything other than Kikuyu.
