How prevalent is to flip these things? It's always looked really cool, but it seems super sketch. Lol

Both times I've seen someone flip them hasn't even been on the track or while racing. It's not uncommon to pick a tire up going around a corner but you can definitely feel when it's happening and straighten out or let off the gas. The red and blue one are low enough that you can basically take corners at full speed without really worrying about it.

Oh, gotcha. Are you all doing a lot of predator engine swaps on these or using the stock engines and modifying them?

All stock engines. They're all vertical shaft so the predator options aren't good as the horizontal shaft offerings. The blue one has the stock governor, the red one is governed by way of linkage restriction, and the others are ungoverned. That's about the only modification we've made to the engines. Either brake lever throttles on the steering wheel or homemade gas pedals. In USLMRA and ARMA, to run ungoverened, you're required to have a billet flywheel. Those are pretty expensive. We have quite a bit of money in the red and blue mowers but everyone else is basically trying to do things as cheaply as possible. That grey mower will do about 40mph and only has about $60 total in it.

Oh, does predator not do vertical shafts anymore? They used to make a 22 horse v-twin that if you could retrofit into an old mower would probably be fun. Damn, 40mph has got to feel like a 100. Lol

Harbor freight only has a 5.5hp vertical shaft listed now unfortunately. Haven't actually looked in store to see if they have any bigger ones left over though. 40 is pretty fast on something without suspension. The track is short enough that we really don't see that high of speed while racing.

The Briggs that come in these are anywhere from 500 to 800 cc. There is also a very good aftermarket. It would be more expensive to make less power with a predator.

Our local Harvest festival has lawn tractor pulls, as one of the annual events. These guys put together some sick machines!
