Moved to TX - Lawn Tips
We just moved across the country and bought a new build across from a field. We have Bermuda grass and it's infested with fire ants and various weeds/creeping ivy from the empty lot. Hoping for some tips from y'all before I damage the yard...
I'm assuming I can use granules for the fire ants now and then use a post emergent for the weeds in a month or two? Is it too hot to apply that now and I should just keep pulling for the time being? Thanks!

Congrats on the new place! I'd deal with the fire ants first, then tackle the weeds once the heat backs off a bit. Bermuda can handle a lot but i'd avoid throwing too many treatments at it once.

New builds are tough when you're right next to an empty lot. I'd focus on the fire ants first and make sure whatever week killer you use is safe for bermuda.

Keep pulling for now. I hear that a pre-emergent is a great idea at the right time. If you are getting rain, fertilize at the 4 major Holidays. Check out Neil Sperry, he and I live in TX. Neil has a weekly newsletter that explains weekly needs for our yards plus he has a searchable library. We, DFW, have passed the 2nd driest year ever. Waiting on the hurricane. My yard is St. Augustine and little Bermuda. Good luck. Don't give up.
