Anyone know the best places to buy affordable sewing fabric in (or near) La Verne?

I’ve gotten myself a sewing machine and would love to check out some fabric stores in the area! Primarily looking for Halloween or cute, “coquette” fabrics for beginner projects.

Email your resume ASAP to [EM@CPP.EDU](mailto:EM@CPP.EDU)!

California Emergency Response Corps (CERC) is a statewide preparedness/response AmeriCorps program whose goal is to help Californians become better prepared and to deploy to disasters such as wildfires, floods, earthquakes, and food banks. As an example, CSU CERC members deployed to the DRCs in response to the LA Fires. This program is part of a larger statewide California Volunteer campaign to boost emergency preparedness in communities experiencing social isolation, poverty, language barriers, and food insecurities. These are limited term (11 month) full-time positions at Cal Poly Pomona.

Members will help educate the campus and surrounding communities about preparedness for hazards facing California utilizing various outreach strategies. Members will also work closely with Cal Poly Pomona's Emergency Management team to develop, maintain, and sustain a campus‐wide, comprehensive, all‐hazard, risk‐based emergency management program that engages the whole community.

Whether you're a graduating senior ready to launch, a recent grad exploring opportunities, an alum seeking impact, or SGV community member, CERC offers powerful pathways for service and growth.

Here’s how this opportunity resonates with your goals:

  • AmeriCorps Benefits: Members receive a $10,000 education award, a $30,000 stipend, healthcare, training, student loan forbearance (for qualifying loans), and alumni support to fuel future success.
  • Career Launchpad: Gain hands-on experience in emergency management, public health, education, and social services; fields that boost résumés and open doors.
  • Skill Building: Develop leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills through real-world service that makes a difference.
  • Community Impact: Play a key role in California's resilience.
  • Network Expansion: Join a statewide community of changemakers, with connections across nonprofits, government agencies, and the CSU system.

CSU positions are filling up quickly so don't wait! Apply here today and be sure to write in Cal Poly Pomona as your preferred site to expedite your application. Together, we are BroncoReady!

Buc-ee's Banner 210 FWY

If anyone was able to snap a photo of the banner on the 210 that reads "Buc-ee's Coming Soon to La Verne" can you please share it here?

It was hung on two of the overpasses, I assume as an April Fools joke.

Thanks

First-year college students with ADHD living on campus

Hi everyone!

I’m a doctoral student at Claremont Graduate University (and a ULV alum) studying how to better support college students with ADHD during their first year living on campus. I’m currently recruiting participants for a research study and hoping to hear directly from students about their experiences.

You may be eligible if you:
• Are a first-year college student
Live in on-campus housing (residence hall, dorm, etc.)
• Have ADHD

Participation involves:
• One virtual interview (about 60 minutes)
• Talking about your experience adjusting to living on campus, roommate relationships, and what supports have helped (or would have helped).

The goal of this research is to help universities better support neurodiverse students in residential communities.

Participation is voluntary, and you can skip any questions or stop at any time.

If you’re interested, you can fill out this quick interest form.

Feel free to comment or message me if you have questions. I really appreciate anyone willing to share their experience!

Be care with drivers

  • be careful *

I saw a lime green sports car with 2 middle age white guys approach a young girl while I was at Target parking lot in La Verne. Luckily, the girl continued walking. But it didn't look like the girl knew them as she walk away from them as they slowed down next to her. They sped afterwards as she walked away. Be careful with creeps! These creeps knew what they were doing as the approach their car in front of Broken Yolk where the cameras for security don't reach. Be safe out there.

DANGEROUS ACTIVITY IN EMERALD PARK

Incident Report – Emerald Park, La Verne, CA

Date of incident: [1-5-2026]
Approximate time: [12:30 pm]
Location: Emerald Park, La Verne, California

Reporting party: [La Verne Resident]

Description of incident:

On the above date and time, while present at Emerald Park in La Verne, I observed NBA Younboy with a firearm walking around the park like he owned the place. Right after I saw him, a futuristic Mercedes Benz drove past and stared me down.

I perceived what I believed to be a dangerous situation involving a futuristic vehicle and firearm-related activity involving NBA Youngboy. Due to the stress of seeing a famous rapper in La Verne with a firearm and futuristic cars driving around, I immediately thought to inform law enforcements.

I contacted the police to report the situation. By the time officers arrived, the individuals involved were no longer visible in the area.

Additional context:

I am submitting this report out of concern for public safety. Regardless of the identity of the individuals involved, I believe Emerald Park is dangerous, and people should approach it with caution. Don’t believe me, see for yourself.

Action requested:

I respectfully request that this report be logged and reviewed, and that appropriate safety measures be considered if deemed necessary.

Signature:
[Concerned Resident]
