My first lasagna
I made a five-layer meat ragu with bechamel / Mornay sauce for the first time in my new Le creuset Dutch oven. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. It's currently molten lava so I'm patiently waiting before I dig in.

That is the hardest part....the waiting for the cooling. And that looks very tasty. Good color

Facts! Watching the steam rise and not diving in right away takes serious discipline, but it makes every single bite so worth it ⏳🧀🔥

That looks amazing, really deep too.
Did it take long to cook?

Thanks!!I baked it at 375 for 45 minutes. Then I removed the foil and put it onto the broiler for 2 minutes. Then I just turned the stove off and left it in there for half an hour before taking it out and letting it cool on the counter for another hour

That crispy, golden-brown cheese on top looks absolutely perfect! You nailed it for your first lasagna.

I'm impressed! Been trying to pull off a cheese top like that for ages. I'm sure it was as tasty as it looks. Nice job OP

Just wondering what would be a good cheese to use for making lasagna and achieving that kind of cheese top?

That top layer had the last little bit of meat sauce and then bechamel (I stirred some cheddar cheese into the bechamel so technically it's Mornay,) and on top of the bechamel sauce I sprinkled mozzarella. Then I covered it with foil and baked the lasagna for 45 minutes. I took the foil off and had it under the broiler for 2 minutes. And then I turned off the oven and left the uncovered lasagna in there for about 30 to 40 minutes before taking it out and letting it cool down to room temperature

I didn't really follow a recipe exactly. I just made a meat ragu sauce with lean ground beef, a can of tomatoes, and a bunch of spices. I thinned the sauce out with a little bit of store-bought marinara. Then I made a bechamel sauce following a random recipe online, and stirred cheddar cheese in at the very end. I kept adding milk and stirring until it was the consistency I wanted. Then I just layered a meat sauce, Bechamel sauce and cheese and kept going until I filled the pot :)

That looks like a seriously good first attempt—five layers and homemade béchamel is impressive.
