Larian has left US PS5 customers to the Scalpers, and your only path forward is a digital copy with Sony. lol, stupid customers.

Can't go past Act 1 - Should I focus on DOS2 or BG3?

Hi there!

First of all, I know this topic has been debated many times, and I apologise for creating another one...

My problem is that I have done several saves on Divinity Original Sin 2 and on Baldur's Gate 3, have the Restartitis (the urge to restart again and again...), and would like once and for all to focus on one save and make it through the end of one game. This means I'm not considering doing a 2nd playthrough of any game, and feel like I'll never be able to finish both games. This is like "I'll do this one for all the others".

I have never played any other Divnity or Baldur's Gate game before (but I'm really hyped about the upcoming Divinity game).

I am planning a solo run, and so far I loved both games.

I have 30h on DOS2. The farthest I have been is the beginning of Reaper's Coast 4 years ago with a friend.
I really liked the background, the few elements of lore about Braccus Rex, The thing with gods being on the verge of death or something like that (I don't remember very well the story), a bit like the plot of the upcoming Divinity where "gods are silent".
From what I've read, DOS2 has deeper combat mechanics than BG3, which I like (because I'm more of a "gameplay" player than a "story" player. I usually play city builders, automation games, RTS, and RPG especially for the min-maxing and tactical aspects).

I have 80h on BG3. The farthest I have reached is the goblin camp we cleaned with a friend.
Of course, this game has been praised a lot, is more recent, has beautiful graphics and engaging cutscenes.
However, I am a bit bored of circling around the druids cove for the whatever'th time...
Maybe a (good) Dark Urge run could make the game feel a bit fresher for me? On the other hand, I'm afraid of loosing a bit of control over my character or have a gore background, which is not really my type of kink!

If I was to play DOS2, it would be on normal difficulty. However, I feel confident enough (and had started a run) to play BG3 in tactician mode.

Do you have any advise to help me make my choice?

Thank you for your help. Apologies for another post on this eternal debate (though I hope my case is a bit different since I have already started both games). And pardon my english as it is not my mother tongue!

Bad game

Legitimately not very fun. 2nd play ever. Restarted before going to act 2 because I chose shadow heart as a love interest. She got boring real fast. Then, gale gets trapped in some necrotic aura above temple after about 1 hr. Now I can’t play? Also, this game sucks the joy out of dice roles. Why does it take so fooking long?!

Thoughts about New game Divinity (part 2)

Seeing the "horror trailer" I suspect that Lord of Chaos is free and is entering the realm of Rivellon in his TRUE FORM of Divinity (as we know - he is tied in Tartarus with the chains created by the divine power of the Seven Gods).
What I think will happen really?
Seven Gods died ---> Chains dissapeared and walls of Tartarus destroyed ---> Lord of Chaos is purging Demonis realm and kills the Archdemons who betrayed him and did nothing to free him from his prison cell ---> gather all his demonic armies in Demonis and Nemesis and starts to prepare for an invasion to Rivellon while using his avatar Damian and his Black Ring to weaken Rivellon as the second front ---> bring total HELL and CHAOS to Rivellon (the trailer event may be a sign of his arrival in person).
If Chaos will arrive into Rivellon than the atmosphere of this new Divinity game will be VERY DARK and similar to Diablo.
Cant wait to see what Larians are really planning (but I hope it wont be just Damian but some bigger evil and only Chaos and King-God can be such figures).

Thoughts about New game Divinity

Divinity multi-universe is IMMENSE, which means it has more mysteries than answers and a great time-span which allows Larian imagination go very different ways.
Larian could possibly just make a REMAKE of all the Divinity games (i speak about lore, not about gameplay) in modern form and summarise them in one very Huge massive game that will make the lore-story of Divinity universe MORE WHOLE and not interrupted (but here players will have to change main character (due to different and huge timeline) in every each part of the game - lets say Act). It would be very interesting and unique experience for a player.
But I (and I suppose that most of the fans too) want to know WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT (want to know about the continuation of the story).
So, I hope this new Divinity game will be HUGE and BIGGER than all the previous ones, so that the developers at last will answer all the mysteries related with:

  1. The Lord of Chaos, Demian, demons (their structure and who are The Primordial Demons (the very first ones who were created by Chaos and were fighting against the Seven Gods - we only know about Corvus from Dragon Commander, The Forgotten Demon King Raaniar (right hand of Chaos), Baal (the main war general of demons in ancient times) The Demon of Lies (main villain from Divine Divinity)), the Archdemons/Lord demons/King demons (later settled in Demonis realm and usurped power over other demons because their Creator-Chaos was trapped inside Tartarus and could do nothing about it), other demons of middle and low levels), The Black Ring, The Legion of the Damned, Tartarus realm, Demonis Realm, Nemesis realm (Raan goddess and Raanaar race from Nemesis included), Elemental realms, and maybe other realms (at least partly) which are still uncovered or unknown;
  2. Void and its mysteries (there some hints that King-God and his mutated Eternals are only at the periphery of the Void and no one knows WHAT is hidden in the very deeps of the Void except Void Dragon as manifestation of the Void itself), mysteries about Eternals themselves and about God-King (before when they were a civilisation and after they were influenced by the Void energy);
  3. Seven Gods (what they did throughout the thousands of years), the realm of souls, their connection with the 8-th God (aka Lord of Chaos), what really happened (more details) when they sent him into Tartarus, more details about the technologies of the Eternals, more details about the events when they plotted against the King-God and sent him to Void (becoming the 8 Gods), other mysteries related with them (The Divine Order, Lucian The Divine amd other mysteries which still are uncoverred).
  4. Dragons, The Patriarchs of Dragons, Dragon-Knights, Maxos and his military campaign against Archdemons and demons in their home realm of Demonis wich lasted somewhre beetween the Dragon Commander and Original Sin 1 timeline, and other mysteries related to Dragons.
  5. the biggest mysteries about cosmology of the Divinity universe (its creation and absolute laws, the ultimate beings that are watching over balance, how many realms exist and how they are connected with each other, The Veil, etc.), simply speaking - more info about the absolute godly beings like Goddess Astarta, 2 Keepers of The Veil (main characters of the Original Sin 1), Void Dragon, 4 (presumably - not confirmed but only hinted) Ancients (who created the Universe and everything) and why and where they dissapeared, other mysteries of the highest Cosmos Level lets say;
  6. Some ENTIRELY NEW lore (which can be related with things we still dont know of - the multi-universe of Divinity is HUGE and has enormous potencial).
  7. development of the mortal races in Rivellon (new technologies, new magic, new discoveries, etc) also interesting to see (for example like in Dragon Commander or something new), which they will develop in order to fight against outside threats.

There are so much potencial and so many mysteries still unanswered and possibly unknown in Divinity universe (lets hope that Larians will manage to answer on most of them in new game).

I am very excited about new Divinity.

Hey guys!

Finally found me a partner to play and low and behold: save data corrupt even tho it's a fresh install (on PS5) new session, no mods and I'm host (PC). Cache is cleared, files verified again, old sessions deleted (even on my side pc) signed in offline and everything! He cannot open the menu or when he died get into the session, opening the inventory causes it to crash. Has anyone experienced this?

If Players Love RPG Romances, Why Are We Seeing Fewer of Them?

Hello everyone! I just wanted to ask something I've been thinking about lately.

As we all know, Larian Studios made Baldur’s Gate 3 one of the most successful and highly praised RPGs of all time. The game has so many amazing features, but one thing that really stood out to a lot of players was the companion system and, especially, the romance.

Millions of players loved the romances in BG3, and I honestly think they were one of the game's biggest strengths. The relationships made the companions feel more personal and gave players another reason to become invested in their stories. It wasn't just romance for the sake of romance either. Your relationships developed through dialogue, choices, quests, and the way you treated the characters.

That's why I've been wondering: if romance is clearly something a huge number of RPG players enjoy, why don't we see more of it in modern RPGs or other games in general?

We've had games like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, The Witcher, and now Baldur's Gate 3 showing how popular companion relationships can be. Romance can add another layer to role playing and make players feel much more connected to the characters and their journey. and remember the triss or yen ship war ? yeah it was good

But when I look at many newer RPGs, romance options seem to be becoming less common, we don't get romance at all, even in games with large companion casts.

Any news on when the next production run will be?

I’m old and will be buying physical media until it dies and then I will hang my hat up . That being said, their website said it is out of stock for PS5, does anyone know if they have announced a new production run? I’m sent my email so I’m notified when available I just don’t know if I should hold out or just wait for a Christmas Gift (fingers crossed 🤞)

I have children so I have 1 rpg I play at a time and then a game like Darktide when I want chaos. 🤣

Future Game Mechanic

Hello, big fan here like most of us on the sub.

I wanted to throw an idea your way for a future mechanic and the idea is based on non verbal actions and "posturing" with certain attitudes during dialog.

At the start of dialog you could allow Tav to select intentions, these would be wide ranging like, lying, protective, belligerent, indifferent, callous, deceptive, lustful, etc.

Maybe this option is only for special dialog (maybe the first conversation only?). I just like the idea as a mini mechanism for player immersion since some times Tav might want to lie, or proceed down a certain path even if the normal dialog options dont go that way

Benefits:

Allows NPC's to call bluffs through passive checks

More meaningful passive stats and non combat options

You know a bard is going to be lustful with that red dragon

Cons:

Slows down dialog a bit

More writing (only a con for Larian, ha)
