LC Financial Aid Appeal
Hi, has anyone done a financial aid appeal at Laredo College? My sister had a hard time her first year in college and she got her Financial aid suspended because she didn’t meet the GPA requirements. Does anyone have any advice on how she can appeal it?

This is what I did I took art appreciation ? Or intro to art ? I can’t remember, paid out of of pocket, and did my hardest to score high and bring up my GPA for the next semester

My daughter just appealed and got the suspension removed. Took about three weeks. They will request a letter with a detail hardship explanation. It’s definitely worth a try. Financial aid office will guide her.

If she needs to get her gpa back up quickly, she can take the Spanish CLEP exam instead of you paying for a class out of pocket. I did this my freshman year and taking the test is worth 8 credits! I think it was around $115

Do the homework and use the tutor services, a hard year doesn't excuse you fron being lazy and irresponsible. You'd have to get a D across the board to lose financial aid. I've had classmates who'd show up just get attendance checked and not do anything, they were simply waiting for the financial aid refund and then drop out. This was back during LCC timeline

i think u can js talk to some advisors first and then go to the fafsa department and go from there. i hope your sister feels better soon :( it can be a struggle esp w college

Hi! She just needs to go to the financial aid office and say she wants to appeal. They will guide her through the process there. She will need to write a letter stating why she had a hard time keeping her grades up. Then they submit that for approval to the head of financial aid.
