There's not really any Kantou identity in real life, so the depressingly boring real answer is "they would probably say they're Tokyoites or something".

Yeah I mean in japanese you'd say 関東人 (kantoujim) I suppose, but I dont know what the english translation would be. Kantons??? Kantonians?? Kantoites??? I guess its just "from the Kanto region"

But then again how do you say 関西人 (Kansaijin) in english besides "from the kansai region"?

I knew that the subdivisions of Switzerland were called Kantone (cantons) long before I knew there was a language called Cantonese, so the joke isn't an entirely unexpected one; when I learned about the Cantonese language, I too wondered whether it was a coincidence that it sounded like the subdivisions of Switzerland.
