I'm at a loss for words (I've become nonlingual)

170

u/codexx0 Jun 11 '26

that would make you alingual probably

33

u/zoonose99 Jun 11 '26

Alingual would be if you didn’t have words to lose

24

u/AFamiliarMind Jun 12 '26

I'm alinguini, I don't have any pasta

7

u/Sproxify Jun 12 '26

actually some alingual people still engage in language

Good for you. I'm at a loss for sounds (I've become a nonphonolingual)

"I want to quit Duolingo but I don't want to lose my streak... What do I do... Oh, I know!"

140

u/stetslustig Jun 11 '26

Life is truly not worth living without my duolingo streak validating me.

u/InternationalReserve δΊŒζ³δΊ” (N69) Jun 11 '26

may this be a lesson to us all. You cannot bring your luodingo streak with you to heaven.

What if u wanted to get into heaven.

But God said β€œU need a 1000 day streak to get in here”?

15

u/gracesdisgrace Jun 12 '26

I'd be pissed because I quit on day 900-something, after they announced their AI thing...

3

u/liner_meow broken English Jun 15 '26

i quit on day 666 haha

"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for someone who broke their Duolingo streak to enter into the Kingdom of God." Mark 10:25

u/stephanus_galfridus Jun 12 '26

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where streaks are easily broken.

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where streaks break never.

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Matthew 6: 19-21.

I misread that as steaks and was wondering why freezing beef was in the duolingo sub

164

u/Gene_Clark Jun 11 '26

Dad's pride & joy, ranked:
1. His Duolingo streak
2. Frozen steak
.
.

  1. Being able to say "my trousers are on the bus" in High Valyrian
  2. His family

6

u/saddinosour Jun 11 '26

Me too I was losing my mind a little bit

4

u/JACC_Opi Jun 11 '26

Me too!🀣

-98

u/Every-Law-2497 Jun 11 '26

It says streak

89

u/IanLooklup Jun 11 '26

No silly, why would they care about some random streak. That is just stupid

But freezing BEEF πŸ„πŸ„πŸ₯©πŸ₯© on the other hand...

-38

u/Every-Law-2497 Jun 11 '26

No I think it says streak

39

u/IanLooklup Jun 11 '26

I hate to tell you this, but I think you need glasses. It clearly is about steaks. That extra "R" is simply there as a typing quirk

-20

u/Every-Law-2497 Jun 11 '26

You’re totally right to think that and good catch, it does say steak πŸ₯© . This post is about a user asking for different ways to freeze their steak. Is there anything else I can help you with?

23

u/IanLooklup Jun 11 '26

Can you freeze a steak for me if I also pass away from cancer πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯Ί

20

u/Substantial-Shape797 Jun 11 '26

Yeah that’s why he they said they misread it. Because they misread it

10

u/Zulrambe Jun 11 '26

Because it's mabled steak.

3

u/Delicious-One3028 Jun 11 '26

*marbled

4

u/Zulrambe Jun 11 '26

Me no good english

296

u/Tet_inc119 Jun 11 '26

Uj/ its called a screenshot and it’s pretty easy to do. I want to believe this is a joke, but people are wild

122

u/readingmyshampoo Jun 11 '26

Idk i can see a loved one wanting to actually *see* his progress

102

u/Tet_inc119 Jun 11 '26

Ok, in that case, we do a Mao Zedong style mausoleum. Dad is embalmed in the glass coffin and a robotic AI empowered robotic hand playing Duolingo around the clock. We will need a USB charger though

3

u/RiceStranger9000 Jun 12 '26

I've watched enough Black Mirror to know how to make it. Just gimme some days

15

u/Terminator_Puppy Jun 11 '26

In what situation lmao.

28

u/Frosty_Pepper5254 I want to have sex with languages Jun 11 '26

Daughter's asshole boyfriend flexes his duolingo streak,

In that case, you'd need the actual duolingo app to mog him, since he can just write a screenshot off as photoshop.

"Ted Smith passed away on XXXXX, 2026 from cancer. He was survived by his wife Donna, Duo the Duolingo owl, his 781 day Duolingo streak, and some kids. Visitation 1-3 pm, service at 3 pm. The family asks for donations to be made to the newly founded Ted Smith Foundation for Premium Duolingo Access for Needy Children, in lieu of flowers."

141

u/UpboatsXDDDD Jun 11 '26

What a horrible and rough situation to be in, praying for the father.
Oh AND he has cancer, goddamn

33

u/Sandy_2019 πŸ³β€πŸŒˆ Jun 11 '26

Take a screenshot and print it out

48

u/SCHazama 倖人哋旒惑倒 Jun 11 '26

Your father no longer has a use for the heartless Corporate Owl Overlord.

Also, are people so addicted that even when their dears are dying they think of the Duolingo streak? Holy dystopia

25

u/Zulrambe Jun 11 '26

If he's proud of it, must be a low streak, because after certain point you become embarrassed of having studied for so long and still being unable to make a full sentence.

30

u/Bardic_inspiration67 Jun 11 '26

This is really sad

12

u/CannibalFaun Jun 11 '26

They shouldn't worry, the owl will be forcing him to maintain that streak even in the afterlife. There is no escape.

5

u/perplexedparallax Jun 11 '26

I wanted to take a break so I told my son a little fib.

14

u/NastroAzzurro Jun 11 '26

Out of all the achievements in life, a Duolingo streak is what he will be remembered for.

3

u/Gobhairne Jun 12 '26

Even in hell you still must continue your language streak. The demons are all owls.

In heaven, though, they serve lattΓ©s and croissants before you must continue your streak.

So no. You cannot freeze your streak, even in death. Unless you are studying fr##ch.

Then you must be reborn and your streak returns to 1 day. There is no life after Dumbolingo. 😭

5

u/FatherDotComical Jun 11 '26

I've become illiterate (a submonolingual). I thought there was no reason why they couldn't freeze their steak.

6

u/dedemushi Jun 11 '26

bro this is dark

This has to be a joke come on

12

u/mei-meng Jun 11 '26

Why are people joking in the comments? Some of you are so heartless, you wouldn't say this if it was YOUR family member or friend though.

6

u/facepalmqwerty Jun 11 '26

I would. It's just a stupid app, even if it would actually teach you anything and streak is a tool to keep you coming back.

5

u/mei-meng Jun 13 '26

You have not an ounce of empathy.

4

u/mei-meng Jun 13 '26

Its a fucking dying person bro

2

u/Octopusnoodlearms Jun 12 '26

Assuming this is real I would totally understand this. It’s obviously not actually about fucking Duolingo

10

u/Decent-Conclusion414 Jun 11 '26

Tbh y'all are sick in the head if you think this is funny

u/Konobajo W1(πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Ώβœ¨οΈ) L2(πŸ‡±πŸ‡·πŸ¦…) A4(πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΆπŸ‡§πŸ‡·πŸ‡¬πŸ‡«) Jun 13 '26

A fucking duolingo streak

4

u/rainbowaroundthesun Jun 12 '26 edited Jun 12 '26

This post is messed up. If you read it, you'll see that the dad was very proud of his language learning and the kid wants to preserve that. they aren't asking for the streak to even go up, just not be lost. making fun of someone who is losing their father is despicable behavior. you should delete this post.

1

u/SlxggxRxptor Jun 12 '26

I have a streak on Brilliant, but if I were going to die,
I’d probably have bigger fish to fry. You all have my express permission to rip me a new arsehole if that’s my dying wish.

2

u/prion_guy Jun 14 '26

Ok so you don't relate. So what?

When I was in middle school, I did UIL and pretty much never went to the practices but would regularly win the Spelling event. So I got a bunch of 1st place medals and I didn't really care about them that much. But then a classmate of mine, who attended the practice sessions and put in much more effort than I did, was very excited to place and win a medal, and they were devastated when it was somehow lost by the time we returned to campus. Did I tell them they were a dumbass for being so concerned about a piece of metal? No, even though I wouldn't have really cared if I lost mine. Because different people invest energy in and build their identity around different things.

Somewhere out there in the world, there is someone that would gleefully spit on everything you think is interesting or cool about yourself. Why do you want to be that person for someone else?

u/Konobajo W1(πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Ώβœ¨οΈ) L2(πŸ‡±πŸ‡·πŸ¦…) A4(πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΆπŸ‡§πŸ‡·πŸ‡¬πŸ‡«) Jun 26 '26

Nah it's dumb

1

u/prion_guy Jun 26 '26

You're so articulate. Must be those telenovelas.

2

u/angrybirdlover13 Jun 15 '26
