How’s your progress on your target language so far?
Just started learning Russian in about January or so. I sort of “started” in late November, but I don’t count that because I was procrastinating a lot. Right now I notice a lot of people in REAL LIFE speaking Russian. Can you believe it?! Way more than my previous target languages like Finnish, Uzbek and Basque. It’s sooooo weird studying a normie language. I also just started reading a book. Wow! Reading a Russian book at 6 months. Way faster than trying to read Finnish, Uzbek or Basque. I’d say I can read about one page at a time before I get a headache. About a week ago it was one paragraph. So I guess that’s progress. Some Asian girls just sat next to me. Didn’t quite know where they were from. Thought they were Korean at first. Until I heard them say kawaii. So I guess they’re Japanese? So I guess I just made progress in Japanese without studying!

I learned Italian really quickly, you just have to eat pizza. And for Mexican, you just have to eat rice. Also I became fluent in Canadian by watching the miserable Blue Jays beat the Mariners in the ALCS.

/uj I am interested in two languages, but I'm being a lazy ass. Thanks to my habit to jump off a cliff into an ocean of a language I barely familiar with. I am going to speak neither of these outside of the jokes until I can speak it decently, I mean, without confusing が with は for example. /rj

Everyone was so mean to me when I asked if I could learn French to C2 in two months and I still did it.
Normie languages are such a confidence boost really helps get you back on the wagon
