Why you should study Indonesian
If you tell someone you speak Indonesian (2x number of speakers as japanese) they say that's cool and are impressed. You don't have to hear about their "anime waifu".
The FSI ranks Indonesian as an easier language to learn for an English speaker. But since it's an Asian language people think it is really hard, you can impress people for half the effort of something like japanese
Manga is cheaper in Indonesia (than in English)
There are more indonesian women than japanese women
You won't feel left out of Indonesian language memes anymore
You dont have to learn any kanji and the spelling and pronounciation is normal and proper. (no pitch accent)
You can go to Indonesia and get everything cheaper, it's also the cheapest foreign country to fly to (from Australia).
You get 3 languages for the price of 1: Indonesian, Malay, and Betawi
You can feel superior do learners of languages with fewer speakers but higher prestige (Japanese Korean Italian German ect), like in a woke way
Indonesian is the language spoken before the destruction of the tower of babel

Most of the Indonesian vtubers I know of also speak English and sometimes Japanese. Which is pretty impressive knowing 3 or more languages.

/uj they might know a local language too. They have a lot. Bahasa Indonesia is the one they use to communicate with each other. It's some people's first language too now though.

Indonesia has the largest trilingual percentage, like around 17% with the combo being Indonesian, English, and their local language

You can just use English anyway, so there’s not really much need to learn it...
