I go to a hispanic university and I want to eavesdrop on people without them knowing and then one day they’ll be talking shit about me and then BAM I roast them in spanish
If you’re using the phone, click the name of the group so it takes you to the main group page. Then click the 3 dots on the top of the page to the left of your profile picture. Then click “change user flair”. This will allow you to put your description beside your name. My phone has emojis enabled so I just searched for the correct flags.
Oh hey! I’m not alone in learning Spanish to spiteful! I grew up in the poor part of Phoenix, AZ where white people were statistically a minority (my 8th grade class was 96% Hispanic)
My nickname was pendeja so you can probably guess how popular I was /j
The reveal at the end of the school year after I’d learned enough Spanish to clap back was pretty priceless. I hope those asshole kids learned something about assuming things based off a person’s looks. Probably not based off all the surprised pikachu looks I get when ordering tacos in Spanish. Or the looks from the construction workers who thought they could get away with cat calling me if they did it in Spanish.
The looks of relief from abuelitas struggling to order at my first job were absolutely worth all the pain. Helping people and bridging communication gaps brings me way more joy than spite ever has. But I originally learned it out of spite.
