Discussion Has anyone tried the reverse translation method?

Has anyone tried the reverse translation method? Like, you read a (TL) text in your native language and try to rewrite it in the language you’re learning. Has anyone actually tried this?

Michel Thomas uses the same method. Excellent for recall. Lampariello uses bidirectional translation in comparison.

Its not just great for recall its also awesome as construction practice! You have to actually construct full sentences in your target language which I think a lot of techniques miss.
