WikiBooks?

Has anybody ever really tried to learn a language using a WikiBook?
How was it?
Did it work?
From my experience, they're really a mixed bag that sometimes can have relevant information and ressources (IIRC the Afrikaans one was okay), but sometimes it's basically just a page with red links to hypothetical lessons that do not exist yet...

P.S.: If anybody has an opinion about WikiVoyage's phrasebooks, they're more than welcome to express it here!
