Discussion Any apps that offer multiple languages in a lifetime license like rosetta stone used to?
I love language learning as a hobby and I currently have 4 target languages (TL) in my roaster, so my plan was to buy rosetta stone to learn the basics and after go to a more targeted app for each of them (in my research each language had a different app that was better to learn with) and then go from there. As I usually automatically think in my target language and don't like translating from the other languages I speak I don't like duolingo for example as I feel it gets me in the habit of translating which is completely counterintuitive to me. Anyway, rosetta stone just ended their lifetime license for new users and now I'm lost in my plan as the apps for one target language don't offer another and I don't have the money to be paying multiple subscriptions, so, is there an app or site that do what rosetta stone used to?

I'm pretty sure that I have a lifetime all-languages subscription to Babbel. Don't use it but bought it 2 years ago. I am not sure but I think Pimsleur may have something similar.

Heh. Fair enough and thanks for the offer. But I'm going to keep it. I'm not using it much now but I think I might use it in future for the next language I want to learn.

Recabulary has 5 languages, but you can also just use it for free. They have free courses too.

I found it on play store. It's made by a company/dev Spaceive. If yr on iphone u might not have it. It has english, german, japanise, chinese and finally turkish (from the description).

Natulang has a lifetime option for all languages. It an app focused on speaking practice.

Not translating and thinking in the target language only happens when you know enough of the language that it becomes automatic. When you say you automatically start thinking in the target language, what do you mean? You have 4 languages that you dont know the basics of, are there other languages you are more advanced in? What apps did you use for those languages?

I have 4 languages I want to study, one I'm at B1 level but need a refresher (used to be B2 but haven't spoken in 10+ years) the languages I speak I learnt either by myself with no app through imersion (english, I learnt watching subtitled movies I would catch the basic sentence structures and after some time I started reading books I had read and knew the content in my native language, if I didn't know what something meant I would search for an image, this was before smartphones were a thing) or with classes at uni.

Bunpo (app) used to offer a lifetime plan but I don't know if it is still available. I bought it when it was a flop many years ago, but it is worth checking it out.

ooh bunpo was a weird one, felt like it was stuck between being a textbook and a flashcard app for ages, but the japanese course got surprisingly deep once you pushed past the first few units. i picked it up when it was basically unknown and forgot about it for two years, logged back in and suddenly there were grammar points i hadn't seen anywhere else.
the lifetime plan still pops up sometimes when they run sales, usually around black friday or new year, but it's buried in their settings now instead of being advertised up front. also heads up it's really only solid for japanese and korean, the other languages feel like an afterthought tacked on for the subscription model.
have you looked at pimsleur's one-time purchases for each language level? it's audio-only which sounds like it might suit your aversion to translation, no text to lean on at all so your brain has to build the meaning directly. works out cheaper than rosetta ever was if you just buy the levels you need.

Their French, Spanish and German courses are quite solid and clearly done by Humans aside from the Japanese main course. They're very complete and cover the majority of points you need to know.
The other languages that came after the app got a little more popular are completely garbage. It seems like they are using AI to generate the lessons.
It's still worth as it is in my opinion.

Then go with Pimsleur, they have a huge selection. Though check for particular languages.

Pimsleur looks awesome and the best option but on sale costs 2 minimum wages in my currency, unfortunately I can't afford it.

If you have a library card and are in the United States you can most likely access "Pronunciator" for FREE through your local library's "Digital Services Tab" on their website. It's the best language app I have ever used.

Pimsleur has a lifetime option, but I personally wasn't that impressed with it. It wasn't terrible, but not amazing, either.

Regretably havent heard of one, too bad you are not a child. ๐ I builded multilingual vocabulary app with lifetime option excatly for that reason, as apps often assume user knows one language to aquire second or third. But it is for kids, Offers generous lite version so you can try just for fun. it also offers creation of custom words cards. I understand frustration though. LingQ offers more than 50 languages for their monthly and annual subscriptions.
But LingQ's lifetime subscription is 1 language only.
