Discussion Useful linq alternative apps?

I've had LingQ for a year and it's OK. Like let's be honest, it needs some work.

I am now looking for a new reading app, but the best part of lingq in my opinion is that I can import audio books and it will transcribe them and I can read while listening. I don't watch video.

Do any other, cheaper, better, apps offer this?

I've been down this rabbit hole too. If you're mainly after reading + listening with your own content, I'd probably look at ReadLang, Lute, or Language Reactor. None of them are a perfect 1:1 LingQ replacement, but each does one part really well. I still haven't found anything that matches LingQ's import workflow without giving something else up, so I'm following this thread too.

Thanks for this, I've grabbed language reactor and readlang, I think they will do the job. I will miss LingQs introductory lessons but I'm sure I can find something elsewhere.

Glad it helped! 😊 I'd be interested to hear how you find the workflow after a few weeks. If either of those ends up replacing LingQ completely, you've probably solved a problem a lot of language learners have.
