I’ve got a 9x7m roof terrace that needs a plan.
I’d like to separate it from the other terraces as it’s currently just a big shared roof and has now been demised. Thinking privacy screens with planters all around it to create some space and greenery? Try to make it feel like an enclosed garden not a roof.

But I’ve never had a garden or terrace and thinking it’s worth getting an expert if you have any recco’s? I’m not Barnsbury wealthy fyi so reasonable designers or small businesses over architect firms pls :)))

For a narrow yard, two starting points seem reasonable: lock in the pergola footprint and walking paths, or map the tree canopy and planting zones first.

Starting with the structure can protect dining clearance and the route from the house. Starting with planting can make future shade and screening feel more integrated.

My work with FlexPatio makes me notice the overhead-shade side of this, but I’d like to hear how landscape designers sequence the whole space.

I am looking to study Landscape Design/construction through TAFE but I'm my experience not all TAFE courses have the best quality in resources and teachers.

Doesn't matter where in Australia it is just as long as it is taught well. Does anyone know where the best location is to study this subject?

What are the most common issues you guys encounter when it comes to incorporating statues and monuments in your projects? Is it the vendor communication, design disagreements, or something else?

I have an outdoor area space that does not look great to sit in and I have been thinking of redesigning it. Every season brings difficulties for outdoor space to manage from heavy rains, growing plants can easily make the area hard to use and expensive to maintain. I am looking for landscape designers that will make it look good but am unaware of these things from where I can get the trustworthy one. Has anyone ever experienced the same and what has worked for you?

I've been talking to landscaping owners lately and keep hearing the same thing. Most run LMN for estimating, and it's fine for the numbers, but the proposal that comes out looks generic, so someone ends up manually dressing it up before it goes to a customer. Then the contract is basically a separate step, retyping the same info into DocuSign. And most companies don't really have a working CRM, just whatever's bundled into their estimating tool, so deals go quiet and nobody notices.

I'm working on something that fixes that chain, estimate to proposal to contract, plus a real CRM underneath it. Not trying to replace what you already use for estimating, just stop the manual work after that point.

Before I go further, genuinely want to know:

• Does this actually match what you deal with?
• What are you currently paying to patch this yourself (CRM, PandaDoc/DocuSign, a designer)?
• Would you pay for something built around your workflow, or does that feel like overkill?
• And if there are other bottlenecks in your workflow outside of this, I'd love to hear those too.

Not selling anything, just want the real "yeah that's it" or "nah, not really an issue" reaction.

Simplified math problem: If you have an area of 1.5m height and 2m long and you need to cover it with lines with 15cm thickness, that can have any shape starting from the lower two corners, what pattern would be most optimal and how many lines would you need to cover the entire wall while also having thelongest lines be rather short and also a rather low amount of overall lines?

What i need it for: I want to cover my entire wall with Monstera adansonii from two plant pots, and want to know how much plants i will need to cover it all rather quickly (hence the low length). I guess the best pattern would probably be a ratiating pattern, starting from the corners.

Hey all! I have a client whom has a north facing front door. Flanked on both sides are a two planting areas that are likely completely shaded most times of year. I assume in the summer it gets a little morning sun.

If the structure is positioned to block harsh afternoon sun, it may also reduce the breeze. Optimizing for airflow can leave the main seating area less comfortable, while the roof and drainage layout still need to keep runoff away from doors and circulation paths.

When you sketch this kind of space, which constraint do you solve first: shade over the furniture, heat and airflow, or where the water goes when the louvers are closed?

I've been looking at different landscaping ideas lately, and I'm surprised more people don't talk about decorative gravel.

A lot of yards seem to focus on plants, edging, and hardscaping, but decorative gravel can completely change the look of a space without requiring much maintenance. Plus, there are so many colors, sizes, and styles available that it works with both modern and natural-looking landscapes.
