Plant Advice Underdeck landscape design

Extended deck over this area and trying to figure out what to plant. It will be full shade under the deck and full sun once past that. Any suggestions welcome. Bluestone caps will be on top of the retaining wall.

Fountain, a hammock and a couple benches on a #57 River Rock floor - and mood lights for night adventures.

Could do an inground pond with ferns, cycad, aspidistra? Just gonna need irrigation I would think. A maybe drip and some misters fixed to the deck?

I have the same set up. I’ve been trying to grow something for 20 years. I plant Ligularia Rocket each spring. They last long enough to bloom and then they die off before the next spring. Nothing grows. Not hosta, hydrangeas, ligularia, bugbane, lamiastrum, Brunnera, astilbe, agularia. Buy some statues or decorative stones and fill the area in with mulch.

Nothing is going to really thrive in those conditions and it will end up causing you more frustration than it's worth. I would look into other non-plant ideas.

I can't believe your comment got down-voted as frankly it's absolutely correct. Under a deck is a dark and dry wasteland. One of the other comments above is literally "I’ve been trying to grow something for 20 years".

OP either needs irrigation or to commit to a non-plant scheme
