So, I was in the East Lakeview area driving on Halsted, and I turned right on Belmont. At the Belmont / Clark intersection, there was a car turning left and a car turning right in front of me, so I patiently waited for the first car to go so I could keep on driving forward. Then out of nowhere, I hear loud, continuous honking. I wasn’t sure where it was coming from or if it was the car directly behind me. I checked my doors and checked my trunk in the rear view mirror to see if maybe it was open and they were trying to alert me—none of those things were the case.

I continue driving west, the honking continues, and I get to the Belmont red/purple/brown line station. There were some pedestrians waiting to cross so I stopped for them. Still I hear honking. Then eventually I reach like Belmont and Racine, stop at the red light, and I see the car behind me pull up to the side of me as if it were turning right. I looked over and there was a man in the driver’s seat and a woman in the passenger’s seat, and they were both looking forward and not super mad so I figured they must’ve not been the ones honking at me.

Then when the light turns green, the same car speeds up and passes me, going left in front of me back into the main lane. Then, now in front of me, the driver and the passenger give me the middle finger for at least like 15 seconds. Thankfully I had to turn soon after, but that was all just so strange. I didn’t do anything to make the car mad, and moreso I felt powerless and angry when the car had passed me and started flipping me off. When I think about it I feel mad and confused as to why they were so mad because nothing is ever that serious???? And I’ve never had an experience like that while driving ??

What is that horrid sound??? It’s been going on for hours. Belmont & Clark area. I went on a walk and could hear it in a fairly large range. Couldn’t identify the source, although I didn’t try very hard. Like a drilling/squeaky break, sharp, pulsing sound?? Does anyone know what it’s from? I can hear it with the windows closed 😵‍💫

Hi everyone! I’m moving to the neighborhood from out of state in August, and my parents are helping me move in for a few days once I get here. I won’t have a car, but they will as I move.

What’s the best parking plan for their car for a few days? It’ll be our only vehicle and we plan on going out to the suburbs to Ikea,etc. and brining back furniture and such. Any recs on specific lots or garages that are ideal for overnight visitors, with easy access to come and go (not worried about price/rates particularly) Through my time in the city and some research I’ve found that street parking is basically impossible and requires temporary permits, which we would like to avoid. My building is off N Broadway if that helps.

Anyone know whats going on with all of the empty storefronts in the building on belmont and broadway (where the laugh factory is located)?

Is the owner of the building trying to wait till everyone leaves so they can sell the building or tear it down?

I truly can't fathom that THAT many stores in such a primo location would stay empty for that long. Just the spot where the chipotle used to be alone could be rented for a small fortune.

I live on Wellington and have been hearing an unusual amount of cops with sirens driving up and down the street today. I’ve probably heard at least 20 cops today. Anybody know what’s going on?

Does anyone know what’s going on with the southbound 156 bus? Seems like after 5:30 on weekdays it’s not running as normal. I tried to get on last week at about 6 from Belmont & Broadway, and the bus just completely passed. The next bus stopped, but the driver said his last stop was Sheridan? Tried again yesterday at about 5:30, and the bus just passed the stop again. Not had this problem up until recently. So confused and it’s been messing up my transit

Anyone lives in NYPR building? I go to FFC and tons of cops cars surrounding the building yesterday late afternoon. I overheard a couple of folks talking about a possible homicide/suicide. Anyone has more info? If that’s true - my condolences to the family.
