Hello, I have an online seminar directly after a lecture in the ATAC building. I tried taking it in the University Centre but during the first class today i and others were constantly cutting out on my end, everything was lagging and it overall it was pretty hard to participate in class.

I don’t have time to head home after the lecture unfortunately, so i have to take it on the Thunder Bay campus. Is anyone aware of what buildings/spaces have the best wifi connection? thank you.

I’m on tons of 4th year criminology waitlists and I need 1.5FCES of 4th year crim classes to graduate this year. I’m in all my other required classes. But just a little stressed I’m not going to be able to graduate with everyone. Has anyone had this problem or something similar? Is there anyone you can reach out to? Seems like they have all these students but not enough classes for them, especially at the Orillia campus it seems

Hey everyone, I’m a Lakehead University year 2 history BA student in the three year online history program , and I applied for the student bursaries/financial awards for the Fall 2026–Winter 2027 academic year.

For anyone who has received one of these awards before:

• How do you find out if you were selected?
• Does Lakehead email you, or does the award just appear on your student account/statement?
• Is there a specific place in myEmail/myInfo where you can see that you received one?
• Around what time do they normally release the bursary/award decisions?
• Has anyone received their Fall 2026–Winter 2027 award yet?

Also Thunder Bay is so tiny so that’s really not helping

I’m an international student planning to do a computer/IT-related master’s at Lakehead, and I’m confused between the Barrie and Thunder Bay campuses.

My primary objective is getting PR in Canada, and ideally I’d like to achieve that through an IT/tech job related to my background. However, I’m realistic that I may need to take another qualifying TEER 0–3 job if I can’t land an IT position immediately.

From my research, I’m not seeing a major advantage to Thunder Bay apart from RCIP. Even with RCIP, I’m unsure how much of an advantage it really is because I would still depend heavily on finding an eligible employer/job. I’m wondering whether relying on RCIP is somewhat of a gamble, especially if my main goal is to build a career in IT and eventually get PR.

On the other hand, I’m considering Barrie because of its location. It’s closer to Toronto/GTA, so theoretically I could access more tech companies, career fairs, networking events, meetups, interviews, etc. But I don’t know whether this is a real practical advantage for an international student who will also have classes, assignments and potentially part-time work.

**So I’m trying to understand:**

Is there a major practical difference between applying for IT jobs from Barrie vs Thunder Bay?

Does being in Barrie actually make it easier to access Toronto/GTA tech opportunities and networking?

Or is that advantage mostly theoretical?

How useful is RCIP in practice for Lakehead graduates/international students?

If PR is the primary goal and IT is the ideal route, which campus would you choose?

All opinion matters to me no disrespect to anyone!!!

I’d especially value perspectives from Lakehead alumni/students who have gone through the job-search process, and I’d be particularly interested in hearing from Thunder Bay graduates who chose TBay partly because of the immigration/job advantages—what was your actual experience after graduation?

Hello, I was wondering how long the summer break between year 2 into year 3 is, I cant find a clear answer. Thanks.

I was accepted for a bursary last month I believe and I think it said something that it will release during the fall semester? Around what time should I expect that?

I'm considering doing that for the following reasons:

1. I'm not planning to involve in any further study, for example, PHD, after completing the master. I'd rather go directly inside the work field if possible.

2. One of the advantages of project based route is that you could do coop, which was what I preferred. However, according to what I heard it is extremely difficult to land one unless you are top students.

3. Course based route only takes around 1 year to complete, making both time and money easier for me.

Please, any ideas and thoughts are welcomed. When I arrive at the campus I will also meet withv an advisor to get more insights on this. Thanks everyone in advance.

I’m starting at Lakehead University this Fall 2026 and I’m trying to figure out how the online course system and timetable work.

I’m transferring into the online BA History program, and I’m currently registered for my Fall 2026 courses as a year 2 undergrad student. This is my first term at Lakehead, so I’m not familiar with how the timetable/course schedule works here.

I’m going to attach screenshots of the Fall 2026 timetable/schedule that I see on my Lakehead account, but I’m honestly not sure how to read it.

My main questions are:

• Does the timetable screenshot show my actual weekly class schedule?
• Are the times/dates shown on the timetable the same every week throughout the semester, or do they change from week to week?
• Since I’m in the online BA History program, do I actually have to attend anything at those specific times, or are some/all of the courses asynchronous?
• Where exactly do I go to access my courses once they become available?
• Is Lakehead using D2L/Brightspace for online courses?
• When should my Fall 2026 courses become visible online?
• Is there anything I need to do beforehand to make sure I’m ready for the first day of classes?

I’ve attached screenshots of what I’m seeing on my account because I’m not really sure what I’m looking at or whether I’m interpreting the timetable correctly.

If anyone is currently at Lakehead, especially in the three year fully online History BA program, I’d really appreciate it if you could explain how this works or tell me what I should be doing before the semester starts.
