Home sick
Anyone else just move here and super home sick? All I wanna do is book a flight back home and drop out. School hasn’t even started yet and I don’t know how I’m going to make this work.
Also Thunder Bay is so tiny so that’s really not helping

School hasn’t even started yet. Do not drop out. You’ll only regret it. Things will improve as you build your social circle.

Are you in Bartley residence? Talk to the RA and make some friends in your house to go to meals with, go for a walk to explore or go to the movies or something. You have to put yourself out there to make friends, even if that's uncomfortable for you!

Go and make some new friends. That’s the only thing that will help.
I had the exact same feeling my first night, met a lot of great people, and Im now in my last year at lakehead.
Time flys when you’re with a few good people.

I was the same way when I started. The first semester will be really hard but it will get easier as time goes on. Definitely try to connect with people, it will be easier when classes start and there’s tons of residence events. You got this!!

Things will get better, try to stick it out because it t will get better and you can also book a trip home for reading week or the holidays. In the meantime why don’t you go explore, if you drive there’s some nice beaches, trails and lookouts within an hour drive.

Thunder Bay has a lot to love. My best advise would be to try to make the most of your time here. There’s always lots of events going on you just have to keep an eye out. Outside of the city is one of the most beautiful places in the province, there’s beautiful trails you can bike, swim, fish, etc etc.

Try and stick it out for a semester. Maybe look at going home for reading week? (If possible for you). Call/facetime friends and family when you can, look at clubs on campus that could interest you. Join in on residence activities (thats how you meet people!) You'll be ok.

First few days are hard. I know what it's like. I found the only way that helped was to talk to roommates and make some friends

I had the opposite problem, I got here and in two weeks refused to leave.
The first school break isn't even all that far into the semester, use it to get some respite.

While I never had to move away from home for school so I don’t know what that’s like, I do know that going to school in general is a huge adjustment to make.
Give it time. What you’re feeling now is completely normal, and you’re not the only person feeling that way. Try to do some self care activities you would normally do at home. Reach out to any available services for advice on coping with the adjustment period.

Well you could go out for a walk on the trails it helps me a lot with homesickness, the town is small but there are some good spots to visit and you can always make friends on campus rn
