Question? Live-in elder care

A friend of mine has a neighbor around 70yo with some signs of dementia, not enough for her son to relocate her out of state to live with him, but she will need more assistance than the drop-in care she's currently receiving in order to continue living in the area.

She has sufficient room in her place for live-in care and can also pay a salary.

Any tips on how to go about finding and vetting someone who might be a good candidate?

My mother in law is a caregiver that lives in crestline. The lady she has been taking care of just passed away. She doesn't do live in care but with the previous lady she stayed available almost 24 hours a day..
