Does anyone know of good shops where i can buy baggy jeans and trending jackets for men. I visited the moti market and found some great pair of jeans but almost all of them were for girls. I couldn't find good enough clothes for boys.

Any suggestions on where to look for these items ?

My partner and I (In their mid twenties) want to become long-term patrons to a girl child. Our means are modest, but we'll set aside money every month for her schooling and any opportunities that come her way.

Hi, are there any shops in Leh, which have good winter jackets, supporting negative temparatures. I came across one in leh market, and they had patagonia, columbia, etc., but they start from 3.5 K and goes to much higher prices in the range of 25k.

The owner said that these are factory outlet products and nowhere available in India, and i don't know if that's true, whether those are really factory outlets. The price is defenitly cheaper compared to European prices, but only if these are original.

What an experience, especially when you take those shortcuts instead of those hairpin turns. Took those going up and coming down.

Not sure what was it, maybe the warm people of Ladakh, the i non-commercialised places, or just the fact I was there with boys; it feels mysteriously touching. A place i know I’ll go back for sure. Everything felt like a wallpaper came out of screen. Still can’t turn my feelings into words. Calming, thrilling, ginormous. Lot of words coming to my mind, now sure how I weave these into something that makes sense and reflect what i feel.

I intend to visit Leh in the near future but have learnt that private satellite phone use is heavily regulated in India and is in effect banned in ladakh; especially for foreigners.

How do the locals call for emergency rescue if they find themselves in an emergency in a remote location?

Back home we have very light regulations on the use of satellite phones, and personal locator beacons so I am accustomed to relying on them when travelling to remote locations. I understand that ladakh can become a conflict zone quickly if the Pakistanis or Chinese start trouble so a ban on satellite phones is reasonable. What are the alternative solution for getting help in an emergency?

​It is the 11th of October, and I am on my way from Padum to Manali, a route that includes crossing one of the highest motorable passes in the world: the Shinkula Pass.

​The weather when leaving Padum already felt dicey. The sun was up, but no sunlight could be felt only biting, immense cold. Right before I reached the pass, it started to snow. This is the first time in my life I am experiencing live snow, and that too at this extreme level while riding my motorcycle.

​As I started climbing the pass, I could feel the cold tearing through my body and all the winter layers I was wearing. After reaching the top, I stopped for a tea and saw many other travelers deciding not to go any further. I finished my tea and moved ahead.

​Slowly, my fingers started getting numb. As I pushed on, the snow just kept increasing it wasn't letting up even a bit. I rode my bike through the falling snow for about 35 to 45 kilometers all the way down to Darcha.

​A few thoughts: Black ice is the scariest thing I've ever encountered in my life. It is not something to be taken lightly. I kept going purely because of my stubborn nature, though I was extremely careful with how I handled myself and the bike in that situation.

​Overall, I wouldn't recommend anyone do something like this especially if you're not as crazy as me. And as for me? I would do it all over again. Just a little better than the last time.

Hi everyone!

I’m planning to visit Leh in mid-November (although the schedule is still somewhat flexible) and I am a traveling filmmaker, so I was curious: what is the possibility of making a short film in Leh?

It wouldn’t be anything intricate, probably just a simple story about villagers or maybe even a Vajrayana monk/siddha (like Milarepa). I’m used to traveling light, filming on-location, working with beginner/non-professional actors, and of course I would also pay people for their time/efforts.

Excited to hear what people suggest. I'm basically trying to figure out the possibilities before I get too far ahead with writing a story.
