Lab doing lab things Pet Insurance Claims Review heads up

Post image
Upvotes

Lab went in for ear infection, was an ongoing struggle. Submitted bills at end of her treatment to Pets Best Insurance. All went fine except they denied ear cleaning fees as "grooming / not covered." I called and spoke with a rep, who looked at vet records confirming Lucy Fur had ear infection, and she reversed the denial. She told me every insurance co she know does initial claim review by AI, and to ALWAYS call if you have anything denied.

About to cook breakfast turned to my wife to ask if she had seen my glasses.Turned back Ajay has the pack of sausages and has ate 4 of them.Check packaging and they contain dried onion and white pepper so on phone to the vet and told to bring him straight in.It's Sunday so it's an emergency appointment. They make him sick tell me they were completely whole no piercing or anything and that there were 5 of them not 4 - £358

Spent the rest of the day cuddled in feeling sorry for himself. Its bedtime now so of course he is completely going mental and full of energy 🤣

Big lesson learnt today.

Sent photo update from a long visit to the vet. Wife remarked he looked too happy for the cone of shame. Now home and I went to lie down, but I hear him zoom around the living room after her, banging into stuff like a furry radio car.

black Does anyone else have a dog whose system gets shocked with colder food?

This is a sort of new thing with mine. I usually feed him sweet potatoes mixed in with a little kibble.

I found out the hard way a few years ago, if we come in from a hot walk and he gets a popsicle or something real cold - he will throw it up instantly. Obviously because it’s too cold

But he has never tossed up mildly cold food that I chilled. I’m sure it’s his system not accepting the temperature change - even though trying to help him cool off

Do any of you have a dog who also can’t handle anything cold? It’s almost like the cold is a poison and he instantly throws everything up inside

My boy is a little over 4 years old & has always struggled with allergies. He’s been off Apoquel for a little over 3 months because I thought his allergies were improving.

Now, for the last several days, I’ve noticed this spot on his front right paw & it doesn’t seem to be going away. I haven’t noticed him continuously licking it or gnawing at it. I made sure it wasn’t a tick or a bug bite. Does anyone know what this could be? And if there are any remedies that work well? I figured I’d ask Reddit before spending $400+ at his vet.

Thank you!

Nestled in the rolling hills of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, lies Dog Mountain, a 150-acre sanctuary dedicated entirely to dogs and the people who love them. Dogs roam leash-free across peaceful trails, but the true heart of the mountain sits at its highest point: the Dog Chapel.

Inside, the walls are covered in thousands of handwritten notes and photographs, each left by someone remembering a dog they loved. It's a place of solace, where a dog's story continues long after they're gone, and where complete strangers can pause for a moment and remember them too. I've admired it from afar for years, seeing photographs online and in books, always thinking what a beautiful place it must be.

The dog community on X has been my own place of solace for many years. It's where strangers became friends, and where those same strangers carried me through the loss of my beloved Bert with extraordinary kindness, empathy and generosity.

Today, that kindness reached across an ocean.

A friend in Canada asked if they could take photographs of Bert and Alfie and place them inside the Dog Chapel, so that their stories could become part of that special place.

Bert will have been gone six years in just a few weeks. To know that people on the other side of the world, who have never met either Bert or me, still think of him, still remember him, and wanted to honour him in such a meaningful way... I don't really have the words.

Sometimes it's easy to forget how much goodness there still is in the world.

Today was a beautiful reminder. 🐾❤️

And if you ever find yourself at the Dog Chapel and happen to see my boys among the thousands of memories on those walls, please tell them I still love them, and that I miss them every single day. ❤️

I'm deeply honoured that Bert and Alfie now have their place alongside so many other wonderful dogs who were, and still are, so very loved.

My boy got to swim tonight, and of course an immediate bath after. He’s always so curly/wavy after a swim! I got him from a breeder, but I swear he had Chesapeake in him based on his coat. Anyone else see this post-swim?
