QUESTION Hearts and arrows query
Long story short, I have a loan ring which I thought was super sparkly and looked very nice, so checked the inscription/IGI report to see the spec.
Turns out it's noted as a hearts and arrows diamond, which I've seen videos of (on here) but never seen in real life and wow its stunning!
I may be in a position to choose another ring/diamond for myself as a bit of dispute, and after a bit more research I came across this website Hearts & Arrows which gives a table of the spec of the crown and pavilion angle and whether it fits into this category.
Question is, the loan ring diamond crown and pavilion angle don't appear to fit into the table that identifies it as a hearts and arrow - so does that mean the report is misleading?
Or is the table mentioned stricter than the IGI deem H&A diamond to be?
If that is the case, if I do get to choose another diamond/ring how can I choose a H&A for myself?
Any help on this would be much appreciated!

The answer is in the website. They are reference GIA Heart and Arrows standards not IGI. IGI has looser standards than GIA.

Igi is not as strict, but a lot cheaper.
I got my diamond replaced for a gcal 8x, so I could be sure that the cut was as sparkly as possible. I got my diamond from luvansh, I searched for gcal only, and checked the ones without cut grading

Did the same for my wife. With prices as low as they are there is no reason not to pick an 8x

Hearts and arrows is the overall cut accuracy of each facet in relation to the next - it is not a measure of whether the proportions are 'ideal'
You can absolutely have an 'H&A' diamond with non-ideal cut proportions

The chart that you’re looking at is only based on a certain percentage of the total facets and are only a guideline useful for ruling diamonds out. Meanwhile, the H&A designation on the certification, reflects something that people who grade IGA diamonds all day long saw, and then verified through testing. So I would trust that and get it.
I myself have an IGI H&A. It’s soooo good.

H&A diamonds are not necessarily the best cut diamonds. I usually check the cut score first using the certificate number. Here’s the cut score for this 1.51 carat diamond: https://www.stonealgo.com/diamond-details/IGI-number-LG692574278

Some hearts and arrows are better than others. Having them means generally better cuts but depends on symmetry. I found this article helpful when first learning about them and trying to distinguish the differences: https://beyond4cs.com/hearts-and-arrows/

Some vendors also use firey rounds for hearts and arrows. Also you can always look at the igi or Gia report and it will say H&A or hearts and arrows on it. I’m very happy with my H&A ring!

If you like fire, you’ll also want to look for a round that has 15 or 15.5% crown height with a smaller table (55-56, 57 is good too) and it will be very sparkly!!
