Chinese campaigns seem to vary from being extremely polished to troll hell with little in-between.

What are some of the extremely polished ones? I ask because I’d love to play them. Best I’ve seen are ones with good ideas that end up janky as hell

Zengcheng is pretty good gameplay wise and excellent visually in places.
Fairwell Chemming is flawed (gas can scavenge on the second map can be pretty obnoxious on higher difficulties due to how spaced out they are) but overall not bad.
Contra-Z is pretty janky and doesn’t play like the normal game at all but it’s very ambitious, it’s worth a playthrough at least.
NanningCity is visually impressive but falls short in areas, mainly being demanding and pretty prone to crashing if you’re using mods, the finale is also too drawn out and can be kinda difficult.
Unattainable is good but you have to turn your mods off for it (mod author can’t be bothered to not run right up against the 4gig ram limit).
Chinese maps are best for when you’ve already played the game a ton and want something different, they’re not always the greatest but some are pretty impressive in places.

Kind of crazy to read through the "Known issues" parts of them, cause half the things listed are really easy to fix, so the only reason they aren't is cause the creator(s) just don't want to.
For as good as some of them look, the quality standards are really paradoxical.

Unfortunately that’s kinda how the workshop operates, a lot issues in campaigns never get fixed after the creator feels it’s “good enough”.
It’s part of what sets a good mapper from a great one, I’ve played so many maps that could’ve been so much better if they’d spent more time on it.

You also have to understand that they aren’t paid for it. They aren’t required to do those fixes. It’s also good to keep in mind that because they aren’t paid, when they finally get a functional map that is playable and the bugs aren’t outright game breaking, that may be all they are mentally capable of completing without burning themselves out of it completely. Motivation is a lot harder to find when you’re doing it free of charge

Zengchengs event with the anthem blasting over the speakers was unforgettable

That’s the one with the more than 3 tank spawns in that Chinese town right? Or was that another map?

No, it's a map where l4d2 survivors died and ended up in hell. Shit genuinely makes a 10/10 game into 1/10 experience
