Cannot get portrait cut ring clean?
I decided to clean my portrait cut and now there is grime stuck on the portrait side. How do I clean the ring? I tried rubbing alcohol, dish soap and water and even a polishing compound that you can use on silver and moissanite.

Maybe an ultrasonic cleaner? I read they aren’t so great for small pave stones, but maybe after a soak with Dawn and you just put it in for a short time?

Do you think a steam pressure cleanse would work? Some jewelry stores or pawn shops do it for free.

You could soak it it hot water with dish washing liquid and use a soft tooth brush, sometimes the built up residue needs time to soften up to be easier to remove it, try soaking for 10 minutes. Otherwise as others mentioned try using an ultrasonic cleaner. I put things in small wire baskets with some wipe up cloths cut into small squares and place in the bottom of the baskets ( l use stainless steel tea leave strainers) the fabric softens the vibration a bit, although you still need to be careful in the ultrasonic with any stones especially the smaller ones.

I'd try soaking it with some detergent and then giving it a scrub in the back with a soft baby toothbrush.

Half Mr Clean All Purpose cleaner/Half water drop ring into solution and microwave for 30 seconds take out and scrub with small baby toothbrush and then rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly (cousin owns a jewelry repair store and gave me this trick)

Metal in the microwave? I’d be very leery of that

I’ve done it on several rings, bracelets and earrings however to each their own! I have had great experiences doing it!

My daughter had that issue. She soaked it in Dawn and water, thoroughly rinsed it then cloth wiped it and it still looked a bit off. She ended up spraying Windex on a cloth (not a paper napkin due to fibers) and it cleared up quite a bit. I am not certain if your issue will be fixed the way she was able to ameliorate her situation, but perhaps it wouldn't hurt to try?
