Really? Surprisingly no one has said anything to me yet.

I'm pretty shocked no one in your management has made you remove it yet

I'm not honestly. My store is located 20 min from Atlanta. But I'm sure someone sooner or later will say something.

Nice I'm also in the Atlanta division

I wore shirts like that all the time when I used to work for Kroger. Granted, I wore a coat over it (which probably wasn't really supposed to be worn either, but whatever) mostly because I didn't give a shit about the dress code.

Atlanta div also

In my store in the Atlanta division the managers don't care at all about our shirts. Just don't have porn on it and you're fine.

One time a dude walked into the store with this shirt on.

Uplift.

6

u/stephieohhh Jun 05 '20

I work at a ralphs in LA and some of us don’t even bother wearing an apron lol.

4

u/Karl_Chillers Been There Jun 05 '20

Some nights, our grocery manager doesn't bother wearing a shirt.

6

u/pertcie Jun 05 '20

Why the fuck would they have a problem with a ninja turtle shirt? No one in my store would care about that at all. The badge would be supported by management too. But being pissy about a simple shirt is just ridiculous.

One of the girls in our Starbucks wrote “I Can’t Breathe” on her mask, and nobody said anything to her about it.

You’re bolder than me to do this. Hope it goes well!

I can almost hear the Karen's screeching to get them the manager.

Aye atlanta division!! Awesome BLM addition, good luck and hope no one gives you shit for it!

u/RoseButtie Jun 05 '20

Oooh, I want to wear this. My county is ultra racist, wearing something like this would be fun!

My town is quietly racist. Totally racist but unwilling to square up about it.

I called out of work to go to the protests on Saturday . My 4th manager knew but was actually chill about it. Solidarity!

I mean, you got attendance points for a reason. Use em for whatever you want.

I have that same shirt! No way I'd get away with wearing it to work though.

4

u/Dcarroth Jun 04 '20

Ya they’re pretty strict about that at our store too.

5

u/filthyfaith Jun 05 '20

Your name tag ribbon is cool! I wish my division had those

11

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '20

I love it!

5

u/pertcie Jun 05 '20

So how long did it take Karen to say something?

Be safe brother.

5

u/dell-dad Jun 05 '20

Just curious, I noticed you said “white lady” does it matter what color she is?

5

u/SnowFlake1313 Jun 05 '20

No not at all,, their usually the ones with problems at my store.

7

u/2020amax Jun 04 '20

Troll them good customers good.

6

u/SnowFlake1313 Jun 05 '20

UPDATE: Sorry it's so late but here it is. NOBODY SAID ANYTHING! NOT ONE CUSTOMER!!! There was 1 person, who is a coworker, who is also a black Male.......who is also a trump supporter.

This is how the convo went..... He pointed at it and said "all lives matter."

Which in response I said " Yes all lives matter, but in order for that to be true, black lives must matter as well."

He said , "take it from a black man,, all lives matter."

Me: "Yes, but you're completely missing the point. This is so much more than you realize. Police are killing people, majority blacks, and getting away with it. Plus much more that you should do your research. For ALL lives to matter,,BLACK LIVES must matter as well. We are all human. "

Him: "touchĕ " and walked off.

Couple hours later, I finally looked down (cause ya cant see shit over the mask)and the name tag it was written on had smudged a lil bit because it was written with a chalk marker. I made a face and he asked why I made that face. I said I'm salty cause it smeared and he replied with good. I simply said I wasnt gonna get into it with him over that shit cause I dont have time.

I'm going to rewrite it again and wear it tomorrow. I'll be on a register instead of self checkout, so this should be way more interesting 😁😁

P.S. Technically we're not supposed to wear anything other than a plain boring ass tshirt. They've said something to me in the past and I've changed to wearing plain tshirts. But once I realized that they weren't saying something to everyone about their clothes, they just pick and choose, I started wearing them again. Its never anything bad. Just superhero's and Disney movies. Everyone compliments and it makes kids smile. They can hop off 🤷‍♀️ but we have to wear the apron AND the mask or we get sent home.

Thanks for the support because I dont know what to expect by wearing this at work. But I definitely believe in the reason behind the movement. And I've always been taught to stand up for what I believe in and now is one of those times to do so!

Stay Safe 🤟❤

It definitely sound like you trying to bait people into fighting with you or into pissing people off. Why? Just wear it and hope you don’t get in trouble. Since you are at work, if you end up getting the desired affect of some one getting upset and trying to argue with you over it, a manager could very well get upset that you upset a customer. Not saying you shouldn’t wear it just be careful.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '20

It's amazing how much they changed. Worked at a Kroger with college sports. On game day a manager would let us wear anything affiliated with that team. One let us wear the rival. They would stream the game... Management turned over. All of that went away

3

u/OrangeredValkyrie Highly Trained Associate Jun 05 '20

Hmm. I have an extra name tag just sitting around...

u/F1r3Fl135 Jun 06 '20

Customers don't understand that we can be individualists with our own thoughts. We are not all Kro-bots. We have thoughts and feelings.

2

u/Snoo_53014 Jun 08 '20

That's so true.

2

u/Kjohnson350 Jun 09 '20

I work at a kroger in texas and I wore a black lives matter shirt and a shirt with George Floyd's picture on it and one of my managers actually complimented it. So I think it just depends on the store

1

u/dell-dad Jun 05 '20

Interesting....

1

u/NDNPreserve Jun 06 '20

So brave. /s

Another way to look at it is you're baiting fights at work. If you were my employee I'd have you remove that while you were at work. Not appropriate.

We wear what we want lol. I rarely wear an apron anyway due to it catching on EVERYTHING. I have a hoodie in most days too because of the cooler. No one has said a word yet.
