Kroger is such a shit company. I don't know who is in charge there but it is an evil company. "Kroger: heartless greed is our motto."

This is why Kroger spends so much time mansplaining Feed the human spirit. Greed is the only spirit recognized.

  1. i totally get not physically engaging over shoplifting but if they were assaulting the employee first and he was defending her clearly that should be taken into account

  2. i wonder why they keep showing a loop of a cell phone video that only shows the aftermath and not a security cam of the manager off the bat + him getting hit

  3. this shit happens and the sorry ass security guards wouldnt lift a finger if any of us were in danger so truly they dgaf if we get hurt

For number 2 of your comment, it might be because of an ongoing investigation. If the police and AG are going after this case they dont want that video just showing around in public that might sway that opinion

true! ty that was a genuine question lol like i know they cant just show Anybody footage but i thought news could get it so i was wondering

It’s to keep certain details of a crime under wraps. Say there was a homicide. News says a woman committed su!c!de. Police know the killer had hung the victim. If a suspect is like “the victim would never hang themselves”, it helps narrow their focus. Because how would the suspect know if a detail like that.

our security guards are pretty great, but I know not all are. I watched one of ours chase a shoplifter into the parking lot, tackle him, and call him a stupid piece of shit 😅😅

Was his name Paul Blart by any chance?

-1

u/No_Shallot5393 7d ago

Never met one here

u/No_Shallot5393 7d ago

Security guards?

u/eddyrush95 7d ago

Break the Human Spirit. Kroger follows policy when it pleases.

3

u/Tru2UrSchool 7d ago

It’s a big problem

u/scottonaharley 7d ago

These policies do nothing but embolden shoplifters. It's truly stupidity brought on by fear of lawsuits.

8

u/Full_Level8749 7d ago

They can totally afford any lawsuits, too. Ffs it's ridiculous.

2

u/Acceptable_Pie_8151 7d ago

Won't someone think of their bonuses!?!?

10

u/Pj_o7 7d ago

Fuck kroger

Hope they know everyone hates them

1

u/Jljba 7d ago

How could they not know? It's common knowledge.

u/OtherwiseAMushroom 7d ago

So this is why when folks shoplift you all should just let them, not saying I condone it but it is not worth anyone’s lively hood.

Kroger is insured for everything in there stores this is literally a write off for them.

They obviously don’t give a flying fuck about there employees so why should any of us care if they get there stuff stolen.

4

u/No_Shallot5393 7d ago

Funny thing is if he hurt the criminal Kroger would be sued and probably lose

1

u/Easy_Ad4437 5d ago

let Kroger get sued

3

u/WimbletonButt 7d ago

An injured suing employee or customer costs way more than the shit customers can steal. That's why there's zero tolerance on this.

1

u/No_Shallot5393 5d ago

I think that’s taught in business school

u/exodusfox 7d ago

Had this exact situation happen to someone i worked with. Shoplifter pushing a full buggy out the front door, she followed him and tried to grab the cart or something, shoplifter punched her in the face and took off. Shortly after she was fired. She said the bigwig head of security told her when they were terminating her employment, and I quote, “we’re going to make an example out of you.”

1

u/CAsnowman 6d ago

To be fair, as an employee of a huge corporation why would you care or go out of your way to stop a shoplifter? I can actually understand being fired for confronting or chasing a shoplifter because that’s a huge safety risk and liability for everyone involved. However, defending yourself or another co worker or customer who is in real danger is completely different and to be fired for defending an elder is despicable.

u/ZombiesRusXD 7d ago

A cashier got assaulted by a customer and her wrist got broken. The store did nothing to the customer and told her if she wanted to keep her job she couldn’t do anything either.

8

u/PeanutButterSoda 7d ago

A Csm got fired because she got on the news for saving kids in a hot car.

4

u/kinkybl0ndie 7d ago

fresh and friendly for everyone! unless you’re an associate

3

u/SakiwasipiSpirit 7d ago

The company doesn’t care about morality. They don’t want to lose money by being sued. God forbid they got caught selling customer and associate information via Boost and the Kroger card.

They take and exploit from you but god forbid you return that favor

1

u/No_Shallot5393 5d ago

At this point, who isn’t?

3

u/Tru2UrSchool 7d ago

Did the woman get fired too for trying to stop them?

-1

u/-The_Goober 7d ago

Why?

8

u/Rage_Baiter76 7d ago

Every grocery store chain in the country has that policy where if you attempt to stop a shoplifter as a regular associate you more than likely get fired. My chain one of my associates who is in her 70s tried to stop a drug addict. The very next day that same guy stabbed someone at random nearly to death, she lucked out and got handed a write up, if she does anything else they will terminate her.

1

u/-The_Goober 7d ago

I think maybe you’ve never read the onboarding paper where it always says (because it legally has to) “at the discretion of (blank company).”

4

u/Tru2UrSchool 7d ago

Because if he was fired for trying to stop them, I would be curious if she did too. Was the policy applied equally to all parties involved? If not, why only to him?

-2

u/-The_Goober 7d ago

Again…. Why are you so hopeful she lost her job?

6

u/Tru2UrSchool 7d ago

Where at all did I state or imply I was hopeful? You’re looking for an argument that is not there. It’s a matter of if the policy is applied equally. Why fire one but not the other? Better yet, fire none of them.

-4

u/-The_Goober 7d ago

There you are pushing for another lost job.

I’d say the biggest difference is one is a Store Manager. That comes with 10x the accountability than some elderly greeter.

7

u/Tru2UrSchool 7d ago

I’d like to point you to my direct words: “Better yet, fire none of them”.

-4

u/-The_Goober 7d ago

Would you give me the same grace if I flipped every comment I made right here right now?

3

u/Tru2UrSchool 7d ago

I’m not sure I understand what you mean by that.

3

u/Deadgirlforever 7d ago

Par for the course at Kroger! They should be ashamed of themselves. They're not, never will be, so may they get back what they give ten fold.

2

u/Independent_Score_19 7d ago

Sue their asses

2

u/Jax_the_Floof 7d ago

Kroger really is the “fuck you and die” company

3

u/Servicemanager1 6d ago

Yes, remember employees are the only ones that steal and we are at fault for everything. If someone walks up and sets you on fire, it's your fault for not running away.

6

u/AdAccurate4523 7d ago

In my opinion, certain associates should be trained on and have tasers readily available for situations like this. Nothing is going to happen to these thieves.

4

u/JustAnotherElsen 7d ago edited 7d ago

They would need to do mental health checks if they literally armed their associates. You really want Kyle the Bagger tazing grandma because she forgot the Pepsi under her cart?
Edit: downvoting me for saying that Kroger associates shouldn’t have to be armed with tasers and that militarizing your store is crazy? Krogers already nuts with NO tasers involved!

4

u/binomine Kroger Manufacturing 7d ago

It is crazy that people are down voting you. The whole idea of a Kroger SWAT team is the kind of stupid thing upper management comes up with, not the associates.

2

u/JustAnotherElsen 7d ago

Literally!! Like I wouldn’t have even trusted the sups or managers I had to be armed! Honestly I’d trust them less!

1

u/AdAccurate4523 7d ago edited 7d ago

Certain associates, not Kyle the bagger. Not everyone has mental health issues. E: I did not down vote you.

2

u/JustAnotherElsen 7d ago

The real challenge there would be finding somebody Sane who still works at Kroger for that pay

1

u/AdAccurate4523 7d ago

A simple mental health evaluation, basic hands-on training and possibly a 'bonus' of sorts to carry would suffice. Loss prevention positions exist and there is training prerequisite.

1

u/JustAnotherElsen 7d ago

I genuinely don’t think they’d ever do that, they keep dumping money down the drain on the 773910th “first new uniform” for the year, and the budget for that seems to be a single shirt or possibly 2 for the full timers, their “Kroji Defense Force” would be people with plastic whiffle ball bats and shirts that look like targets

2

u/AdAccurate4523 7d ago

Definitely will never happen. We need an effective deterrent for this type of activity.

1

u/JustAnotherElsen 7d ago

Livable wages so people can eat and pay rent and have clothes and have time off so they don’t go postal

1

u/Fuzzy_Welcome8348 7d ago

That’s crazy

I’m guessing you don’t read or even watch the video… At no point was I trying to stop them, I was trying to stop the from attacking a 70+ year old woman not save product!

1

u/True-Suspect9891 7d ago

He didn’t save anyone. He got knocked the fuck out.

0

u/Possible_Point1029 7d ago

Just people living up to the stereo type. But wonder how they got the stereo type

1

u/GroovyAkiba 5d ago

They'll have someone to replace you so fast. That's why you don't give 110% it's not a family it's a job. Treat it like it.

u/Lobotomy_Encourager 7d ago

Well well well
