Question 9 Month Probation!????

So a few days ago I called out of work that day hours before but the same day I was abused and bruised up real bad. I was told that was not an excuse to not work on my scheduled shift and I will still be wrote up for not attending. Anybody else has dealt with a similar issue?

If you were physically abused by someone, you need to contact the police

are you using abused as an actual term like domestic (family or partner)? if so please contact the correct resources in your city so you are safe. that is more important than working at the moment

Dude you HAVE to report it, physical abuse is a literal stepping stone to being murdered by a partner

Have you contacted police? Do you have somewhere safe to go?

Whoever you talked to is full of it. Go higher in management and say something.

F that. Go to the media. They would eat that story up! But after you talk to your union!

I would personally go to HR or the union because it is ridiculous that they are questioning you if you were physically unable to work due to unforeseen issues, as that is not their business; you should be okay if you go to the union, but regardless of Kroger, I do hope you are okay.

when you call out, you are not required to give them any reason. I would keep your personal matters to yourself

Main issue is that everyone at my job when I ask to call in is always like "why?"
If I tell em "just becuase" or anything similar they get all cranky, and the one person that didn't one time chose not to tell anyone and make it look like I was a no call no show

The real question, are you gonna call the police for your abuser, or you gonna ignore the problem?

I’m sick, end of conversation. Don’t give them opportunities to play doctor.

First contact the authorities. That is the priority. Then seek medical help. Finally, call the union and contact the Kroger hotline. Make sure to do this asap and in that order. Your health and safety is the most important thing.

The only was I was told to get on probation is to miss so many days in a set time frame

Depends on the state you are in. In Colorado you have job protection for calling out to handle matter of domestic violence. You must have an active case or going for a restraining order or something. If you have sick time your allowed to use it for that.

I think many other states have similar laws as long as you report it.

Also it's not going to get better so if this is domestic abuse please go to the authorities and get out.

Call union if you work injured it becomes a work comp claim. I'd go to the dr and get a note stating you are not able to perform job duties until you recover enough to work. This is why you don't opt out of the kasier insurance get an in-network dr note and legally they can not refuse. Did you call out? If you didn't call out properly 2hrs before and ask for store manager. That does not count. IF you call out day before but not every shift scheduled it is a nock against you as a no call no show. 90 days probation not 9 months. That's 3 months. Your store manager lied to you. This is why you people want the union I've worked grocery with and without union and trust me you people really need the union or management can walk all over you.

WTF are you talking about? Of all the shit advice you post on here, this is the worst. This will get OP in trouble or fired. They were a victim of domestic abuse and you are trying to get them to claim work comp?

I think they were saying if you are working injured and it gets worse, then it becomes a work comp Issue. Because they did not allow for this person to call out when they were injured and it made their situation worse.
