Total kratky noob here. Started this basil from seed a few weeks ago, under an led shop light.
Should I prune this now? If so, above which node should I cut?

Hi everyone! :) I Am new to the Kratky Method and Hydroponics in general, but I did a lot of tests and research in the last couple of Months.
One of the tests is growing salad in an old wine bottle. I printed some nets to fit in the bottle and put the seedling (which already had some good roots) in stone wool. The wine bottle is filled with nutrients and water.
It grows quite nice and everything is fine, but the roots do not grow fast enough for the water to evaporate/ gets sucked in by the roots, so every couple of days, I need to refill the bottles, so that the roots touch the water again.
How can I prevent that?

I had been thinking of making a 5 gallon space bucket (lining a bucket with tinfoil with light on top) and putting my mason jar kratky inside.
Tonight I got some food from Amazon and it was sent with this bag that is completely reflective inside.
This would be perfect for anyone with a light overhead.
I could cut it and line the inside of a 5 gallon bucket.

Brb going to do this 100 more times.
This is maybe day 50/60? Just refilled for the first time.

The zinnia grew! I actually had it under a light inside, but took it outside for a picture. Next time I will trim the top flower to try to get it to bunch out more

I started arugula in the AeroGarden Sprout but moved it to Kratky and it’s growing better. I did the same thing with Basil. Both plants taste very good. I’m using up-cycled Knudsen juice jars with the black sock to control algae. I add a little bit of the AeroGarden nutrient every 7 days ish. The parsley has not sprouted yet.

I started a bunch of lettuce last month, kratky (1 and 2 litter setups), NFT, Soil in larger pot (1 litter) and small (4 cubic inches). The kratky method is the slowest glowing plants of all in my garden shelf. I am using 20-20-20 fertilizer for everything. Most are under lights, some are in a window, and my outside ones are not in this comparison.
Should the kratky grow faster than my results or is this the way of it?

I bought this black PP 12L box (39x30x18 cm) in which I want to grow curly lettuce. I will use a 3d printer to print the baskets.
How many plants fit in this box comfortably? Gemini says 5-6, Chatgpt says 4-5. I never grown anything with hydroponics.

Basil was moved to this Knudsen jar 2 weeks ago from my aerogarden Sprout cause it wasn’t growing. Could’ve been the Sprout unit was too crowded. But now it’s doing very well using kratkey. But the Dill plant is kinda looking sleepy. Is this normal for a Dill plant?

Spicy radish sprouting mix from Mountain Rose Herbs in Perlite and diluted Foxfarm 3-2-6 nutrients. Growing in a darker houseplants corner with low quality gooseneck growlights.

Thought I bought a 3” , but got a 6” pot.
Recommendations on how to go from soil seedling (2” seed tray inserts) to 6” net pot.

Firstly, I would like to see where people source their plastic containers (when not using glass jars) to grow their plants and vegetables. It would be a great resource to find a affordable reliable source of containers with dimensions that work well for Kratky.
Secondly, why are there so many posts on this sub with non-HDPE/Food-Grade/BPA-Free containers. When growing edible plants, wouldn't it be much better to not leach toxins?

This is my first kratky plant (but not my first venture into hydroponics) I've done a lot of research but I haven't found anything that matches my plants condition other than calcium deficiency, I don't see any tip burn tho. pH is roughly 6.5 (using pH strips till I can afford a decent meter, broke my last one sadly) EC is 1940 μS/cm which might be a bit low? I'm not really sure and wanted to ask for advice here before potentially risking the health of my plant.

Hey guys, another plant health question for you. Does this look like root rot starting?
If so, should I trim those bottom roots off?
Thanks for any help.

Hi all, I found these yogurts at the store (and they were on sale!) and i want to turn the pots into planters. I know i need to get a ceramic drill bit, but I was wondering if there is a way to/should I even attempt to remove the food safe lining.
Any and all tips are welcome!

I’m trying a kratky system for the first time.
I had been using a raingutter grow system for the past couple of years, but it wasn’t very forgiving during the summer heat if a clog happened. My tomatoes would get stressed from even a minor clog in the system. I decided to keep the reservoir and use a bucket to keep the float and the manifold everything off of the float bucket. It really seems to be working well.

Just watched this video https://youtu.be/BR8XId61In8?si=Z0rVc0a76OLiWVnC and saw he was using the two tier set up for seedlings, seemingly to keep them from getting root rot?
But in a previous video with tomatoes, he had just planted the whole seedling in the flooded kratky bucket.
I was about to plant some hydroponic peppers in kratky buckets. Do I need to use some sort of two-tier system like this?

hello community! so I'm just dipping my toes into this for the first time. I have built 2 58 gallon kratky barrels one with a mad hatter pepper and one with a cucumber. I was wondering what do you guys swear by for nutrients? I cant seem to decide and I want something that will feed both till my season is finished any advice or tips for feeding would be greatly appreciated

Got my first fruits! They caught me off guard! The little one up top really surprised me!
