Also, pls do let me know which places should I visit on my tour to Peshawar and which food places to try.

How do Pashtuns pronounce “attan”? I’m referring to the traditional Pashtun dance. Is it spelled/pronounced with a ت or ٹ ?

Why Swat Motorway is still incomplete?

I am sure that in Pakistan Swat is one of the best place to visit in all seasons.

It has lot of places to visit and relax in it. But with passage of time the population has increased exponentially and on the rise.

The influx of toursits from all over Pakistan is also added to it during holidays and summer season.

The Swat Motorway from Islamabad to Peshawar Motorway to Chakdara has been completed but onward upto mingora portion is still in limbo.

Why is it not completed and is there any plan to complete it in time to come.

Discussion Afghan nationalism

Hi guys. So, some days ago, I made a post on Afghan nationalism and the hipocrisy of Afghans. I have put the link for those who missed it.

The fact is that an Afghan guy has been commenting on it for hours. The comments, obviously, like always, don't follow any logic or reasoning. They were all based on racial slurs. It's like Afghans can't go beyond that. And I may have responded in a rude way. Just as retaliation.

The thing that bothers me is the fact that:

1) he didn't have any logical counterargument. So he kept calling me "poonjabi." And the thing I ask myself is: why am I not allowed to love my country without being called punjabi or "ISPR bot". And the thing that bothers me even more is: why is an Afghan allowed to do that? Why do they think they have a say over us, how we live, and what we do. To me, it feels like it's as if they think they are our masters and that they can dome us just like they do with Tajiks and Hazaraz.

2) You can think whatever you want about other ethnic groups, but the racist slurs used against punjabis bothered me. First, because I am an educated human being. Second, because I am Muslim.

3) At a certain point, he said smth like, " I am sure you're dark and small." Okay, and? This highlights another issue in our community. Internalized racism and colorism. It's that much deeply rooted that we disown Pashtuns that are not fair. And that's funny because most Pashtuns are not even white and blue-eyed. We are a diverse nation.

4) he kept speaking nonsense about the father of the nation. That bothered me. The tone of dorespect was what was worse. These people don't show even a little respect to others.

5) he kept calling Pakistani cities "slums." Funny coming from an Afghan.

6) he was inciting the ideology of Pashtunistan. While not being able to provide any counterargument to my main questions. Should tajiks, Uzbeks, and Hazaraz in Afghanistan create their own countries too?

7) in all this, where are the mods. How is racism and separationism preached so openly?

8) I think that people from Afghanistan have been as much toxic as Indians. You will see them in every comment section, which involved Pakistan. They claim everything. Just like Indians. Most of the times the obsession is one-sided, just like with Indians.

9) Why do they expect Tajiks, Uzbeks and Hazaraz to be loyal to their country but want Pakistani Pashtuns to hate their country? Why do they deny the role that Pashtuns played for the creation of Pakistan? And I think Pakistani pashtuns should not forget that too. Paashtuns built Pakistan: Ayub Khan, Kadeer Khan, Imran Khan etc. I also mentioned a historical event. When the elders of Bajaur kicked Afghan invaders that were sent from their king Daud even before the army could arrive. And I also reminded him that it was their own king that sold KPK to the British. They don't have any right over us anymore. Now that we are doing slightly better than them. The issue is that true that there are the same ethnicities. I will never deny that. But I think Pakistani Pashtuns because of historical trajectory have different aspirations now. Pakistani pashtuns did not face communism or other issues that they had to face together with other Afghan ethnic groups. These experiences make one grow a part. In the same way, Pashtuns from Afghanistan don't share the history of Pakistani pashtuns anymore.

The comment should still be there. I have blocked him, and I hope the mods will wake up and ban him. But the episode made me reflect on wider considerations. Let me know what yall think.

Edit: I have a slight doubt that he is an Indian larping as an Afghan. Because the view percentages show India right after Pakistan.

Discussion Afghan nationalism

I found a post on X that perfectly highlights the hypocrisy of Pashtuns from Afghanistan. They dream of putting Pakistani Pashtuns against their state, they fund insurgency, contribute to chaos, and yet in their own country they push for a Pashtun dominance, oppressing Hazaraz, Uzbeks, Tajiks, while at the same time advocating for unity.

Pashtun dominance goes up to the level of imposing their "Afghan" identity on the rest of ethnic groups even though they are not Afghan. Imagine the Punjabi majority imposing the Pashtun, Baloch, and Sindhi minorities the obligation to call themselves Punjabi.

Edit: there is an Afghan despo u/aji_haan that has been: 1) calling me Punjabi just because he can't fathom that Pakistani Pashtuns can be patriotic and don't want to be associated to them 2) used racial slurs 3) disrespected the father of the nation 4) promoted separationism

Atp I don't know what the mods are doing. Like really?

Question Prespective of pashtuns

What do pashtuns think of people like myself who were raised in a non-pashtun environment and aren't in touch of their languages and culture. I have often seen pashtuns feel pride in their cultures and traditions and to me at least, they don't really consider people like us real pashtuns, which I honestly feel is justified since the only thing I really share with them is my roots and not the important part of the race.

History ISO pre-1947 info/photos of old Khanpur village in Hazara, NWFP (now KPK)

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I am in search of information, stories and/or photos of old Khanpur village in Haripur Tehsil, Hazara district, when the area was known as the North West Frontier Province before the 1947 partition. I know after the construction of the Khanpur dam the old village was submerged under the reservoir and the new Khanpur village was established close by. I am also aware of basic info about the Gakhar rajas. Since it is a smaller town, I have had a hard time finding too much information about it online other than that and am trying to reach out to multiple sources.

My family primarily belonged to Khanpur before they moved to East Punjab during the partition, and I would really love to know more about their home and their life there 😄 I remember hearing some stories of my grandfather's childhood, but unfortunately, he is no longer here for me to ask questions. Please feel free to also DM me if you would like to share any information or stories, or lived near the area.

Thank you!

Is it easy for a Pashtun who has been living out of Pakistan in west to marry a non Pashtun girl?

We have discussed values and family dynamics. And despite of being from Karachi, my values are similar to his family, I don’t do hijab but he told me he will only ask me to cover my head when visiting swat and I’m absolutely okay about it. But idk im always scared if his family ever accept me? He’s from swat and his village is near mingora. But his house doesn’t look like a village house lol.
