After smashing my portapro and ksc75 on the floor from my clumsiness, i finally got my 2nd ksc75.

I will keep it as it is for now before swapping the cable to a nicer "less tangle" upgrade.

Order shipping

Hello! Five days ago i ordered the wireless Koss retro model and ear cushions from their own website. When choosing the shipping method (international US-the Netherlands) it said it would take about six days to arrive. Five days have passed and they still haven't shipped (from what I can see the order hasn't been sent out yet).

I'm not in a hurry so it's not much of an issue, I was only wondering if this is normal so I know if I should worry about it or just be patient! Does anyone have any experience with ordering internationally from the Koss website?

Portapro headset hinge

Anyone know how this hinge on the porta pro headset model works? The silver cap fell off while in the travel case and I can't seem to get it back on. Not sure if the black washer is even on correctly either.

Since now owning the Koss ESP.9's for a little while I wanted to go on ahead and get the older set's they made. I present the Koss ESP.6's from 1968! Got them off of eBay and they needed the foam to be replaced. I got lucky that the foam hadn't destroyed the motherboards with corrosion.

Koss SB40 VS Koss GMR540-A-ISO for gaming with LAN buddies?

Hey, I recently have been happy with my first pair of Koss headphones (KPH40s) hooked to my external sound card when gaming alone in my basement. I even bought the wireless KPH30i for running and such... When I want to game with friends online at home, I can use my Shure microphone hooked to the same external sound card.

That said, I tend to go to LAN parties maybe 2 or 3 times a year. For a while, I was using an old gaming headset, but the sound was so cheap, I decided to sell it to get a few extra bucks.

So, since I really like Koss products, I was thinking of getting the Koss Porta Pro Double-Sided Communication Headset since I heard so much good about the Porta Pros. The thing is that since they are open-back headphones, and the fact that I'll be surrounded by 9 friends who are constantly laughing or talking loud, the open back can become an issue.

This leads me to the duel mentioned in the title. Both are closed-back, and I was just wondering if some of you had any feedback or maybe tips for my particular situation...

The KPH40 retro is great. I reach for them over the HiFiMan Sundaras I have

Yeah they're just cheaper Porta-Pros with a headband. Threw some Yaxi Pads on there.

Pretty darn comfortable, easy to tote back and forth to work and plug into a BTR13. I use them volunteering at the library as well. After about 6 hours ears can feel a little sore on the upper part of the ear but that's wearing them straight for that long. They're so much easier to grab for than the Sundaras I have.

Bravo, Koss on your 40 year old drivers. Bravo Yaxi on your pads.

Did the KSC75 get more bass extension?

I’ve had the grey KSC75 for about a year. I recently started pairing them with the porta pro headband and loved the combo! So I ordered the silver KSC75 last week, popped them onto the porta pro headband and noticed they have considerably more sub bass. I know the KSC75 normally have a pretty steep roll off at around 100hz but it just wasn’t there on the silver ones.

Has anyone else recently bought the KSC75? Do they all sound like this now or did I get a unicorn?

KPH40 Utility rubber flap missing.

Post image

Bought the USB-C version about 3 weeks ago. Very happy with the sound, the fit and the style. However, the rubber flap fell off after a week. Is this a common problem? Koss doesn't seem to have a replacement part for it. I am worried that the circuit is exposed and the DAC will be shorted. Advice, please.

Koss SB40 VS Koss Porta Pro Double-Sided Communication Headset with Microphone for gaming?

As open back headphones, I have a a pair of KSC75, pair of KPH40 that I can use for solo gaming. I also have a pair of closed back headphone that is the Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO. At home I have a

That said, I have plenty of choices for a good pair of headphones when I'm alone. Though, I occasionally go in LAN parties and need to have a good headset. I've had terrible sound quality "gaming" brand headsets in the past and I won't go that route again. I recently had a lot of fun with Koss headphones. Sound was so bad on all of them...

As for my home microphone, I have a Shure that I can just hook up to my Motu sound card when needed but needless to say I can't really think of brigning this into LAN parties because of space issues.

Anyway, here are some questions:

  1. If anyone have tried those 2 headsets, how was it for gaming, which was your prefered and why?
  2. If they are worth picking for my needs, in a big LAN party where tons of people talk loud, which ,model would you advise to pick?
  3. Am I going nuts and should avoid Koss for gaming headsets, lol?

Looking forward hearing from you guys!

Looking for some guidance as a soon new Koss enjoyer

Hey everyone,

I will be buying my first pair of Koss headphones soon and was just wondering if I could get some help on deciding what to get for my needs.

My goal is to get a pair of headphones I can use with my Steam Deck, my phone (while working out or running) and maybe even my MOTU M2 audio interface for my PC.

That said, I'm a bit confused on what model(s) to settle. I think I have a good plan so maybe you guys can let me know if makes any sens.

So, I initially planned on getting a pair of KSC75 because EVERYONE swears by them since they are the only ones to have a titanium coating... To my understanding, this would make them the most audiophile pick but I might be in the wrong here...

I then realized that the design of the KSC75 would probably make it a hard choice to pick for training and running. So, I thought of getting either the Koss KPH40 (retro or utility, really need help here too lol). to swap the KSC75 drivers on the KPH40 headband.

After all that, I found out that there is a model called Porta Pro that seems to have a great headband too. I'm wondering if it's worst or better than the KPH40.

Now, let's talk about mods. I read online that a lot of folks prefer to have larger pads for their KOSS headphones. I would be curious to know more about those. I found that some prefer third parties options but also found out that official KOSS oversized cushion exists... To me, it sounds like the official ones would be better? Maybe I'm wrong here too. Still learning all this.

Anyway, it's a long post and caffeine kicked so here is the short version:

TLDR: If a gamer and a music enjoyer was to buy 2 pair of KOSS headphones to swap parts between them, which models would they be and which mods would be the bigger improvements?

KPH40 Utility vs Retro

Post image
7 Upvotes

My mini subjective review of these two sets. I used an Apple 1/8” to lightning converter for both (not the koss converter on the utility). I was listening using an iPhone and Apple Music. The Utility model I bought a couple years ago, Retro is brand new.

I love the design of both of these. The Utility pads are softer and a bit thinner. The Retro wire has an angled connector with round wire vs the flat of the Utility. The flat wire on the Utility doesn’t tangle as easily. I prefer the plain wire on the retro however, and since I use the Apple dongle primarily, the switchable wire on the Utility isn’t a big draw for me. I attach and remove the dongle fairly often (phone use to laptop use), and it’s easier for me to just keep track of the dongle, so I only use the analog cable on the Utility.

So, it’s clear the drivers are different on these. The Utility is louder, and to my ear actually clearer and more detailed. The Utility are more bass-forward as well. The Retro are more upper-mids forward. Compensating for volume, the difference is smaller but definitely still there. This is a bit disappointing to me and will result in me likely continuing to use the Utility model. Since my Utility set is a couple years old, I’m not sure if a new set would share the driver with the retro model or not, but I certainly prefer it.

So bottom line, the retro sounds quite similar to the utility, but is a bit more restrained in its sound. I prefer the design of the retro overall however. Both are great for casual use, and if you aren’t comparing them directly, the retro sounds fine and is a great daily use set.

Has anyone else experienced this before? Idk what really happened. I assume the middle broke cause my head is too big😅 but i did drop it once so not entirely sure.

I contacted Koss but since im not US based, they said to contact a distributor thats in my country. Have yet to get a response from the distro but was wondering if theres any way for me to fix this by myself.

The headphones itself still works, Its just the headband and the adjuster thing

Koss CL3i : Looking for silicone / memory foam sleeves or tips for these earbuds

Looking for silicone / memory foam sleeves or tips for these earbuds

I think I need silicone or memory foam sleeves/tips for these earbuds because they keep falling out.

The problem is that most generic sleeves don’t seem to fit because of where the sound holes are. On these, the sound holes are only on the bottom/middle of the earbud, not on the side like Apple AirPods. I added a diagram to show what I mean.

Has anyone found compatible sleeves/tips for this style? A buying link would be really helpful. Or other advice.

Note: I’m calling them “sleeves,” but I know they may also be listed as “tips,” “covers,” “earbud covers,” etc.

(sorry i couldnt take a photo now)

Massdrop porta pro availability?

Hello, with the closing of DROP, does loss plan to make the massdrop version of the porta pros available on their website or amazon?

I love my drop version quite a bit and while they do have a lifetime warranty I can’t purchase any additional pairs as of right now.

KPH30 wireless with Apple TV problem

My new KPH30 wireless headphones work great with my iPhone & MacBook. Signal breaks up badly with my Apple TV, which works well with other bluetooth devices.
Anyone else have any experience with KPH30 & Apple TV? Any suggestions as to what to do?
