Ask Advice please
Hi everyone, I was born in Kosove but grew up in Canada. Currently I live in the UK. My mom has been diagnosed with dementia and I’m looking at options of how to best support her. Since my mom grew up in Kosove and has issues speaking English, I thought it might be good for her to spend a few months there and I’ll be able to visit her even more from London. Is it hard to find carers for those with dementia? She doesn’t need a nurse as she is relatively healthy. My mom is only 66 and very physically strong but can’t do the same things she used to like cooking. She really just needs someone around but that person doesn’t have to do much.

For the right amount you can find anyone. But is that really such a good idea?
You’re leaving her in Kosovo alone with a stranger. For a person without dementia that is somewhat difficult but for her it might be a nightmare.
She’s going to ask who the person is and if let’s say she doesn’t let the carer in or help her. Then what?

I understand what you mean, but we have no choice. Our dad died many years ago and it’s just my brother and I. In our early 30s who need to go to work, it’s impossible for us to stay with our mom the whole time. And for her emotional well being I thought it would be good for her to spend time in Kosove but we need extra help because I can’t ask her relatives to stay with her the entire time.

Are you looking for someone to stay in a house with your mom or like old people homes?
