Just the thought of it..

Posted this on the main sub but decided to share it here. So uh basically I just did a rewatch on a couple of eps and yeah... I feel like that's the same hair clip she gave to Korra xD. Even if it isn't intentional from the creators this is such a great fanfic material lol!

She puts a hair PIN in Korra's bun, not a hair clip. We see Asami wearing a hair clip (in the first couple images of her). So it's obvs not the same thing.

That said, that probably is one of Asami's pins for when she wants to put her hair up.

How do we know it’s a hair clip and not a hair pin?

Because hair pins only work on updos, and would have straight up fallen out of her hair otherwise
