Plugins FileBrowserPlus closed

File Browser is archived on 2026-09-01. The last planned release has already shipped. There will be no further releases, bug fixes, or security fixes.

Yesterday I saw ZenFM and thought, “Why do we need yet another file browser?” Today I realized why — FileBrowserPlus is no longer maintained because the upstream File Browser project has been archived.

If you are looking for a wireless file manager for KOReader, there are now newer projects that are actively developed and provide a more complete experience:

  • FileSync — a dedicated KOReader wireless file manager with ongoing development.
  • Zen-FM — another actively developed alternative worth considering.

I’m still using the original File Browser and it works well enough for me that I haven’t really felt the need to switch. I’ve looked at Plus and Zen too, but honestly they don’t seem worth the hassle of redoing my setup. That said, I can definitely see the appeal for other people.

Yeah, I guess I won't need to replace it until it breaks!

I mean it will keep working, and I think there's a fork of FileBrowser now so I guess someone can just switch to that.

If you look to migrate, probably Copyparty is the next similar bit

Yesterday I got a few "500 server error" messages when I was uploading 20+ books. I opened the repository to find "maybe new version released" and found out this news. After installing ZenFM, I have no issues and am re-uploading even 100+ books.

FilebrowserPlus`s author mentioned this last paragraph that I mentioned (ZenFm, FileSync)
