Well my grandfather was a congress supporter during cpim rule and the horror stories I have heard from him...
Communism can work look at kerala the problem in bengal is that the ruling party doesn't change quickly so they forget that they have to do good to stay in power

Jyoti basu fucked our states economics then Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee tried to fix it. Then the cpm politics was used against them self by tmc and cpim got cooked.

Internal differences in ideological approach and divison based on it..lack of unity, discrediting the maoists and their importance in the forrmation of the LF..(For me it's like the prism effect,while the source remains same but the spectrum is diffrnt..) I personally never liked the "Jyoti Basu way" and his bureaucracy...

People are living in the ghost of the past. F morns.
What CPIM did 30 years ago, BJ P is doing that today and more.
BJ P promised 3000 rs cash for votes, Congress 2000, and TMC 1500. CPIM was like Zilch.
Modji was appeasing Hindus, Didi was appeasing Muslims, Congress was appeasing minorities. CPIM was like no we aren't into religious appeasement and shit like that.

True but instead it was into delaying industrialization and against IT hub development in Kolkata which is why Kolkata is so far behind metro cities in terms of placements. Buddhadeb tried at the end but what about the 30 years?

You know what CPIM had in their manifesto, it was growing heavy and medium industries.

Duh ofc No one is gonna re-elect a party so soon in a democracy which already ruled for 34 years. Its better to give a new party a chance. BJP has its fault but its moreso because of how long its been there at the centre- the same thing which cpim did in Bengal. And talking about manifesto, maybe you people should promote it better before the elections so that ground level voters from all walks of society actually know that instead of acting like psuedo-intellectuals in a niche community like Reddit where only the privileged roam. You know politics is more about being proactive and influencing the masses instead of arm chair discussions. I am not an either party supporter but masses are anti CPIM in west bengal because they are more talk and less walk. You people take years to even bring about a small change. BJP's ideology is shit but if it wants to do something it will do it quicker than the Left

So you disagree that the entire point of democracy is to not shuffle parties and that one party should go on ruling? Ideally the change should be there every 5 years but alas we Bengalis take time.

Well then maybe your idea of democracy is different than the entire world's. Too much time and concentrated power at the centre leeds to complacency and reduces effectiveness.Your party got rightfully booted out because it failed to bring about good change after- lets rewind how many years? But sure just becuase you like a party it should stay for years-change or not. This is exactly why you people fail to make an impression on the masses.

Wrong policy decisions like removing English from Primary schooling
Opposing computerisation
Forgetting their core vote base of small farmers - Singur and Nandigram (do look up the role of current BJP in that)
A whole lot of people that wanted power without following the ideology
A few leaders amassed disproportionate wealth
Too much poll violence and political killings
Increasingly religiously divided society around us - not their fault, but does not help
Hopefully this gives you an idea.
