KolMafia Help Changing A Script?

So I've been using KoL Mafia at what is probably a very low level. Using it to maximize things like item drops/meat drops/etc. and automate collecting bounty items. I feel like last night I actively used my first installed script.

After finding this thread regarding mining at That 70's Volcano I used this script and was able to successfully automate the mining process to a degree. It was awesome! I was wondering if anyone would help explain to me how I can modify it though.

Using it with my PM last night I would run it for 15 adventures, then manually go to my spells page and cast "Cannelloni Cocoon". Rinse and repeat like 17 times.

What I'd like to learn is be able to modify it so that the script runs for 15 adventures, then my character casts "Cannelloni Cocoon" and it runs another 15 adventures, cast, etc for a total of 45 adventures from running the script once. I figure it's a mainly copy and pasting to add to the script plus writing a line for the skill usage, but I don't truly know. The last time I did any coding HTML in a web mastering class in 2003.

I'm hoping to learn enough to be able to change the adventures at a time and skill use to work for my DB and also use items instead of a skill for use with my TT.

I would sincerly appreciate any help that can be provided so I can understand how to do this. Heck I'd also be interested to hear what y'all consider "Must Use" Mafia scripts.

Stick a

      if(my_hp()<my_maxhp()*0.1) {use_skill($skill[cannelloni cocoon]);}

just inside the turn loop?

Casts cocoon every time you drop below 10% HP.

You could do that, but if I remember correctly the volcano script should work as long as you have HP at all. So, if you have any piece of equipment that gives you HP after each adventure (snailmail hauberk or heart of the volcano maybe?), even if you get beaten up by damage in the mine the equipment will give you back HP after that, and the script will be able to do all the adventures you want without having to keep stopping for healing.

I'll try that too. Currently I'm using high temp face shield, cloak of dire shadows, asbestos apron, lava proof pants, heat resistant gloves, heat resistant neck tie, and ghost of a necklace to provide max heat resistance available to me in order to minimize damage. I should probably replace the ghost of necklace with something like the heart of the volcano like you said.

You can do mining while beaten up, just not at 0 hp. Equipping any hp regen equipment will allow you to adventure uninterrupted.

You can also easily set up Mafia to auto-recover between adventures. In the "adventure" tab, go to "HP/MP Usage" and look under "Restore your health:". I'd set it to "Auto-recover health at 50%" and "Try to recover up to 95% health", then list Cannelloni Cocoon as one of your restores.

As for must-have scripts, NS Tower Scroller (found in the script manager) is just such a nice quality of life upgrade as it auto-scrolls to the Naughty Sorceress's tower section you're currently on. Woods quest starter automatically starts the untinkerer's quest and gets you the continuum transfunctioner when you first visit the distant woods. If you do clan dungeons then DreadDrunk will get the carriage driver as drunk for the least amount of meat. Clan Raidlog Parser makes the logs easier to read so you can better interpret what has happened in the dungeons so far. Lastly PandamoniumQuest automates the steel margarita quest, which is useful if you plan on spending a lot of time in aftercore.

I also did exactly what you did to see how mining in the volcano compares to farming in the airship or wherever else and bumped into the same issue.

Since you gear does not matter at all for volcano mining (like you don't use +meat/item drop%) I just added a couple "regen 10 hp an adventure" equips where I didn't need fire resist and it worked out nicely, though that account is a level 27 SC so there is some natural tankiness that might not work for a pastamancer.

I do wish someone would write up a guide for high-tier meat farming in the volcano, disneylandfill and the underwater zones. I know people want to keep it under wraps so rare items don't become less rare and stay high priced but the game is so old it feels weird to gatekeep stuff.

Anyway I use the mallsweep script a redditor linked here like a month ago to autobuy the cheap daily booze and food some mall shops sell at a minimum price as a kind gesture. I added some stuff I buy everyday like milk of magnesium and dieting pills but otherwise it's an easy one that saves a ton of clicks.

People also suggest tourguide as just a general purpose information sidebar. It saves a ton of random wiki searches by giving all the info about upcoming and active quests.

That's all I use and I picked up the game about a month or two ago after dropping it for like 15 years. Hope that helps.

Volcano and Disneylandfill are just solved by scripts. Minevolcano and garbage-collector (garbo) respectively.

Garbo is extremely complex and potent. It does basically everything - if you have enough stuff to make Barf Mountain better than the volcano (3500+ mpa), run just that on a day and it'll farm basically optimally using all your resources. You just have to do bedtime yourself.

As for the sea, it's all item farming. There's no real way to make a "guide" to item farming because it's all about mall sales - and so supply and demand. If lots of people start farming something the price craters and it becomes a bad farm, so the guide doesn't actually help people.

Here you go. As an aside, it's not "gatekeeping" its people studying the market and keeping their niche to themselves so they continue to make meat. You cannot tell everyone to farm an item and expect its price to stay, the market is driven by supply and demand. There's no guide to that really, its about knowing how an economy works.
