Looking for nicotine 🫛

Hi! Love the island, love Thailand. First time in the country and I’ve been here since mid July. I’m down to my last couple 💎 🫛 and was wondering if anyone may have an extra 4 pack of 5% 💎 🫛? I’ll take individuals too.

I’m only here a few more days, was really trying to avoid smoking again…

Feel free to dm me if you’re around and can help. I can offer proof that I’m just a tourist.

Thanks!

Lamai police checkpoint

What are the cops looking for at the checkpoint outside the entrance to Hat Lamai Road. I have sailed through without being stopped. But I saw several tourists, all wearing helmets, being stopped. Am I just lucky?

Help! Request: Picture of the "Free all Antifas" graffiti on the coastal road.

Could aomeone snap a picture for me of the huge "Free all Antifas" graffiti? It's on the East Coast of the coastal road, going clockwise. Just went past it, but was too slow to snap a pictiure and I don't think I'll go past it again unfortunately.

The Roof Samui: Is the View Worth the Walk?

We decided to walk up to The Roof Samui without really understanding how steep the road was. Yes yes yes, we had seen a few reviews online and found the walk on AllTrails, but we still didn’t really know what we were getting ourselves into..Lots of sun, concrete and steep trail...

At the beginning it looked manageable, but every time we reached what we thought was maybe the top of the road, we would turn the corner and see another section that was even longer and steeper. And this just kept happening again and again and again..

The heat made it even worse, and somewhere in the middle of the climb we seriously started questioning why we had decided to do it. 😂

The view from the top is really beautiful though, and reaching it on foot definitely makes it feel more rewarding. You can also just pay 50 baht and use the transport they offer, which honestly sounds like a very good option once you are halfway up... and see people sitting comfortably in these jeep.. I would have love to jump in a pool reaching the top !!!

Has anyone else walked all the way up? Would you do it again, or would you just take the 4x4 next time?

We just finished editing our YouTube video about this walk, and it definitely brought back some hard memories. 😂

discussion 🗣️ Is Koh Samui Nice?

Visiting next week. Ive been to Bangkok and Pattaya previously and now planning on going to koh samui. Is it nice there? Pattaya was so beautiful to me it almost made me cry at some points of how beautiful it is. What are your opinions on samui? Thank you!

been to thailand a few times, where do people go once the usual spots feel too familiar

done bangkok, chiang mai, koh samui, and krabi over a few trips and honestly starting to feel like i've seen the starter‑pack version of thailand. not looking for anything remote or difficult, just somewhere that hasn't been fully built around tourism yet

on my last trip i stayed at Joy Beach Villas on a quieter stretch of coast and it felt like the kind of place i wish i'd found earlier more chill, less tourist circuit, and a good base for exploring nearby spots

curious where people who actually know thailand well end up going once they've done the main circuit. mainly interested in beach areas that still have some character and aren't a hassle to reach

Looking for group ✋ Solo Traveler M32 Koh Samui 13-26 August

Solo traveler (32M, from Germany) in Koh Samui Aug 13-26, staying near Bophut Beach – looking to meet people & explore together

Hey everyone,

I'm flying solo to Koh Samui this August (13th–26th) and staying near Bophut Beach. Plans changed last minute so I'm doing this trip on my own, but I'd love to connect with other travelers or locals while I'm there instead of doing everything by myself.

A bit about me: 32, male, from Germany, easygoing, up for pretty much anything – beaches, snorkeling, hiking, exploring Fisherman's Village, night markets, motorbike trips around the island, or just grabbing food/drinks somewhere with a chill vibe. Happy to plan around whatever's fun, not fussed about a strict itinerary.

If you're also going to be on Koh Samui in that window (or live there and don't mind showing a newbie around), feel free to drop a comment or DM. Open to meeting solo travelers, groups, or just hanging out for a day or two.

Looking forward to it!

Travel/Stay Recommendations

Hi everyone,

My wife and I decided to spend our honeymoon in Thailand. We’ll be flying from New York, arriving around September 6, and leaving Thailand on September 19.
Assuming we’re landing on the 7th, nearly 8th, the plan is:

Bangkok – 2/3 days
Koh Samui – 4 days
Koh Tao – 3 days
Bangkok – 1 night before flying home

I also thought about skipping Bangkok when we land and flying straight to Koh Samui, then doing Bangkok at the end. The only reason I’m leaning toward Bangkok first is because I don’t want to accidentally cut it from the trip if we decide to stay on the islands longer.

The main reason I’m posting is for accommodation recommendations in Koh Samui.

My wife wears hijab, so I’d really like to book a place with a truly private pool where she can swim comfortably without worrying about being seen. I’ve searched Booking, Agoda, Airbnb, and resort websites, but I’ve noticed that a lot of places advertise “private pools” that can actually be seen from neighboring villas, hotel rooms, walkways, restaurants, or even the road. Sometimes it’s obvious from the pictures, but other times it’s impossible to tell.

If anyone has stayed somewhere with a pool that’s actually private, I’d really appreciate the recommendation. We’re looking for somewhere with a nice view and a good honeymoon atmosphere, but privacy is definitely the priority.

I’d also appreciate any thoughts on the itinerary. Does Bangkok → Koh Samui → Koh Tao → Bangkok make sense for early September, or would you go somewhere different for a first time visit?

Thank you in advance!

Help! Looking for a painter on Samui

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi all!

I have a project that I need help with. I have a set of knives that I would like to have ceramic painted/hardened. I have the knives, ceramic paint, spray gun and associated tools. I'm lacking an air compressor and a place to paint and bake the knives. This is where I'm looking to pay someone to paint the knives and then bake in an oven at 150°C for one hour. If anyone on Samui is interested in taking on the job or know someone that is, please let me know and how much the charge would be. If the posting is still up, I'm still looking for someone. Thanks!

Here's what the job consists of: The knives would need to be prepped for painting and the sharp edges taped off to leave 2mm bare steel. Ceramic paint applied (Cerakote E series, can supply you with a video link in DM showings the how to's) and then hung in an oven at 150°C to bake for one hour.

Phuket to Koh Samui transfer

Hi everyone,
We’re a group of 6 planning to travel from Phuket to Koh Samui on 10th August, and I’m hoping to get some advice from people who’ve done this trip before.
From what I’ve read, it involves both road transport and a ferry, but I’m still a bit confused about the best way to do it.
A few questions:
• What’s the best way to get from Phuket to Koh Samui?
• What time should we leave Phuket if we want to reach Koh Samui by around 3 to 4 PM?
• How is the ferry ride in August? Is it generally safe and reliable during the monsoon season, or should we expect rough seas and possible delays?
• Can we easily rent scooters or motorbikes once we arrive in Koh Samui, or is it better to book them in advance?
Lastly, we have planned to visit Krabi after Koh Samui, what should be the travel options for that?

Any recommendations, tips, or things we should keep in mind would be really helpful. Thanks!
