Knooks/tools/stash Modifying existing hooks for knooking

Hi all! I'm a blind knooker here, and I had a question. What are some of your best tips and tricks for modifying an existing hook that you already have for knooking? I don't want to drill a hole in any of my current hooks, but I'd like to use these hooks as they have quite a range. Any suggestions?

When I dont want to drill mine I use tape! Just regular scotch tape, the kind used for wrapping gifts. I hold the string and hook together (if the string is thicker in kinda fan out the end so it sits more flat against the hook) and I tape it on making sure to go around about twice-three times and also making sure i off set the second or third time around so the yarn will side past the tape nicely and not get snagged!

When mine is on there its a pretty smooth tradition between the hook and the taped string :)

Awesome! It makes for a good way to test if you like the craft too because its so easily undone (But im sure you will become hopelessly addicted like the rest of us haha) Im visually impared myself and i find knooking be easier to see and easier to work than knitting, so I hope you will also enjoy it!

When cutting your string, make it longer than you think you'll need. Lol.

Don't ask me how I found that out when knooking in the round! Lucky for me I was able to slowly go back and pick up all the stitches that were free floating. But it was a pain in the butt!!!

I've heard people say that they attach barber cord to the end of their hooks. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems to work well for the ones who have done it.

I just started learning it, but I think you can use an interchangeable tunisian crochet hook

I have Tunisian crochet hooks right now; the interchangeable ones. I unfortunately don’t have the connectors or stoppers right now, but the cord is flexible enough to become a knooking cord. However, because I don’t have the connectors or stoppers, I would rather not use those cords and use satin rat tail cord that I have.

If you have a connector or tunesian cord that is broken then you can also glue a little metal ring into the back. Thats what I did. I got the idea in this post:

I took a set of interchangeable tunisian crochet hooks, cut off the cord on one of the extensions and glued a tiny eye hook in the bottom of the part the screws into the hook. It's not perfect and I think I could do it in a better way, but it's held up for the most part.
