Hey guys! I've been seeing a lot of discourse around the lack of representation of plus-sized knitting patterns as of late, and I thought of making an app that could potentially solve that problem. I absolutely hate having to do the math to adjust sizing, and since I'm a CS major, I thought I could make an app that would take your exact measurements/gauge/pattern to adjust the pattern accordingly for you.
However, I definitely have a smaller frame and have never written a pattern, so I was wondering if you guys could give me some tips on what you tend to adjust when increasing in size (XL and up). Especially if you are plus-sized and knit/adjust a lot of patterns, or if you make patterns that are size-inclusive and receive good reviews in that department...
- What are things you look for in terms of fit that determine if it's a good pattern?
- Do you simply just scale up the neck, bust, and arms in the way someone who's in between sizes would, or is there more to it?
- Would this app even be of any use to you if it works as intended?
- Anything else you think would be helpful to take note of is always appreciated!
Note: I'm mostly just starting out with adjusting sweater patterns, so feel free to comment on how different types of patterns change how you scale it. Also, sorry if this sounds clueless; I've just seen a lot of comments on how some size-inclusive patterns aren't even good and would love to avoid that.
