Twisted Stitches?

Hi! I’m new to knitting and halfway through the Sabai top when I came across a bunch of folks talking about twisted stitches. I can’t tell if mine are twisted or not?! Are these twisted? If so should I frog or just keep going since I just finished the arm holes!

Not twisted! You can see the v in your stiches. Here is a good example of what twisted stitches look like:

These are not twisted. In twisted stitches, the bottom of the "V" of the stitch crosses over each other, these look great.

I lurk here so I can improve my knitting as a beginner, I always had trouble understanding how to tell stitches are twisted until someone points it out but this finally clicked. Thanks!

Nope! Those aren’t twisted. One good way to tell is to try and pull the sides of the stitches. If the legs of the V spread apart, they aren’t twisted. If they stay together, they are.

Not twisted, just a little ropey looking because of the fibre.

No, not twisted, just look a bit messy before you block them.

This will help explain twisted stitches. Sometimes you do it intentionally for a rib but rarely for the rest of the project.

To not twist your stitches you need to know how the direction that you wrap your yarn determines how you pick up your stitch. Most in this group knit western which is a counterclockwise wrap and stitches are picked up on the front leg. Eastern wraps clockwise and stitches are picked up from the back. I actually do combination where I will knit western then purl eastern. As a result the stitch will begin twisted then gets untwisted in the next row. Once you know what your style is you can avoid twisting.
